Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriageprevents creating aYoung Sheldonfranchise plot hole from happening just by changing one aspect of its storytelling. While George’s death and Sheldon’s move to California effectively resulted in theend ofYoung Sheldon, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady’s TV universe lives on with another prequel series. Born out ofone ofYoung Sheldon’s best original plots,Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriageis being set up to be CBS' next premier comedy.

Considering how their story didn’t come fromThe Big Bang Theory,Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriagehas more creative room to craft its narrative in a way that works best for it. WhileYoung Sheldonwas never known to have a high regard for preserving the established canon, the prequel proved that it wouldn’t break continuity beyond repair. So, while there were calls for CBS to continue theCooper family’s story in Texas, the writers decided to wrap it up, even during a shortened season.

The Big Bang Theory Established Missy’s Role In Georgie’s Life

With Sheldon in California and Georgie busy with his own growing family, there were concerns over Missy’s future in the franchise. When initially asked about why she wasn’t going to be in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Raegan Revord simply said that she wasn’t invited. Finally, Georgie and Missy’s relationship was one of the best in Young Sheldon, but it barely explored their dynamic, especially towards the end of its run.
