Wicked: Part Twohas a new title that gets rid of its positioning as a sequel. Jon M. Chu’s recent musical adaptationWickedhas become a financial and critical sensation, but it only covers one half of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. The second movie tracking Act Two will release in theaters next year and will continue the stories of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), Glinda (Ariana Grande-Butera), and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) after Elphaba defied the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) duringWicked’s dramatic ending.
Now,Wickedhas confirmed next year’s sequel will have a new title. Releasing on July 24, 2025, as previously revealed,the new film will be calledWicked:For Good.The title change is a reference to the emotional duet “For Good” that Elphaba and Glinda sing in the second act of the Broadway musical and which will be featured in the second movie.
