Ahsoka’s Age & Full Star Wars Timeline - From The Clone Wars To The Disney Plus TV Show

As one of Star Wars' most beloved characters, Ahsoka Tano has quite a storied history in the franchise. Here’s her timeline and her age explained.

Ahsoka Tano Was Created For The Clone Wars Movie In 2008

Her goal as a character was to improve Anakin’s arc

When Ahsoka Tano was conceived as an idea by George Lucas and Dave Filoni, they were working on the first animatedStar Warsmovie. Lucas stated, “I want Anakin to have a Padawan,” and the idea for Ahsoka had taken off from there.Lucas wanted to give Anakin more responsibility as a Jedi Knightafter the events inStar Wars: Episode II -Attack of the Clones. By giving him a Padawan to teach, Lucas did just that.

Ahsoka’s goal as a character was to add to the complexity of Anakin Skywalker. By having an apprentice, Anakin became a better Jedi than he already was. He began teaching Ahsoka and, in doing so, was becoming a better version of himself. Lucas also planted more seeds that eventually flourished into Anakin’s downfall. Having an apprentice that Anakin cared for deeply would compound his difficulties with not forming attachments.

The Prequel Trilogy Was Made Before Ahsoka Existed

It was simply a timing issue

When George Lucas started working onRevenge of the Sithafter the release ofAttack of the Clonesin 2002, he wrote and rewrote the script multiple times until 2003, when principal photography began. This lasted until 2004, and after reshoots, post-production started in late 2004 and lasted until 2005, a couple of weeks before the movie’s release. The Clone Warsmovie and series would begin pre-production a few months afterRevenge of theSith’srelease in 2005. In the end, Ahsoka Tano did not exist until after the prequel trilogy.

Ahsoka Leaving The Jedi Order Explains Her Absence

The gaps are also filled within the Siege of Mandalore arc in season 7

After almost five seasons, a battle-hardened Ahsoka Tano was wrongfully accused by the Jedi Council of crimes against theGalactic Republicin the bombing of the Jedi Temple. After her vindication, she was allowed the chance to return, but she declined. For her own good,Ahsoka chose to leave the Jedi Orderand, in the process, set up her absence fromRevenge of the Sith. Though this exact fate was not known at the time, the show still ingratiated a proper departure for her characteruntil the announcement of season 7.

Ahsoka’s appearance in the final season ofThe Clone Warswould intertwine withRevenge of the Sith. The Siege of Mandalore arc saw Ahsoka attempting to capture Darth Maul after the death of Count Dooku. After successfully doing so, she reports to the Jedi Council in a scene that is depicted almost precisely as shown in the movie. It is after Maul’s capture on their return to Coruscant that Order 66 takes place. These two seamless integrations of Ahsoka’s story allowed Ahsoka to be canonically absent fromRevenge of the Sith.
