Black Myth: Wukonghas a variety of materials you’re able to find during your travels, but Rice Cocoons are one of the rarest without a clear purpose. These items are food for a divine creature you can interact with once you gain access to a secret area. You have to help out an NPC first before you can truly get the most out of the Rice Cocoons you collect.
Rice Cocoonscanonly be gathered when you defeat the Second Sister, a main story boss in Chapter 4. Similar to other progression bosses likeCaptain Wise-Voice inBlack Myth: Wukong, this will unlock a path to a new area. Beating the Second Sister opens up a hole that leads you to where Rice Cocoons can be found.

Break Interactable Objects To Farm Cocoons
Rice Cocoons can be foundas rare item drops from breaking web cocoon objects in The Webbed Hollow areaunlocked when you take down the Second Sister. Simply run around from the Keeper’s Shrine here and break as many web sacs as you can to get a Rice Cocoon or two eventually. You can always reset the objects by teleporting away and returning to the area through its Shrine.

Before you start farming Rice Cocoons, you have tohelp out the NPC Chen Loongafter defeating the character in battle. Chen tells you he is in pain and can’t move properly, sogo to the NPC Xu Dog, the NPC from Chapter 2 who helps youcraft medicine inBlack Myth: Wukong. From Xu Dog, you’re able to get aSpecial-made Bone-Strengthening Pelletthat heals Chen Loong and causes him to join you at the Crouching Tiger Temple hub area.
Chen Loong also gives you the Ruyi Scroll, which gives you access to the Painted Realm.Travel to this place to discover the Zodiac Village, an area you must have access to for new interactions with Chen Loong. You’ll want toget the Proto-Armourworm item, which Chen Loong can harvest into a baby silkworm of the same name who eats the Rice Cocoons you get.

The Proto-Armourworm comes from the Elder Armourworm boss found also in The Webbed Hollow area. To find this enemy, go to the Verdure Bridge Keeper’s Shrine and head across the bridge to your left to this boss' arena.
What Are Rice Cocoons Used For?
Gain A Powerful New Transformation
You canfeed three Rice Cocoons to the Proto-Armourwormto unlock the Elder Armourworm Spiritspell. This gives you a newtransformation inBlack Myth: Wukong, which allows you to take the form of the massive boss from The Webbed Hollow. While transformed, your regular health doesn’t take damage, but any hits on you will reduce the amount of time you can stay in the Elder Armourworm’s form.

Black Myth: Wukong has nine Transformation Spells, each with their own unique abilities. To use the best ones, you may view where each one is ranked.
The Proto-Armourworm can be found near Chen Loong at the Crouching Tiger Temple, in a small basket to the right of the area’s main stairs. All you have to do is interact with the"Feed"prompt to give the creature Rice Cocoons from your inventory. Once you have fed the creature all the Cocoons it needs, you have torest and return to the Templeto find the spirit where the creature once was.

Giving the Proto-Armourworm all the Cocoons it wants will also help complete a quest tied to it, giving you some Will and other small rewards.
When you change into the Elder Armourworm, you gain new attacks and effects, which include:

Foul Spray- Take the form of the Elder Armourworm and spray venom from your tail to form poisonous pools on the ground. These pools inflict Poison Bane on enemies who stand in them rapidly as long as they remain active.
Max Level Passive Effect
Moderately increases your Critical Hit Chance when in aPoisoned state inBlack Myth: Wukong.
Like any spirit, you’re able to make its main effect stronger by spending additional resources on cultivating it. Similarly to how you took care of the Proto-Armourworm, you can use these materials to ensure further growth with the spirit you collected:
Blood of the Iron Bull and Knot of Voidness items can be found on tough enemies or secret bosses you defeat throughout the game. Once you find the Rice Cocoons inBlack Myth: Wukongto get the Elder Armourworm spirit, you may want to make it stronger to deal with the challenges seen near the end of the main story.
