Skeleton Crewis confirmed to be set five years afterReturn of the Jedi, joining the likes ofThe Mandalorian,The Book of Boba Fett, andAhsokain falling between the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy. This is particularly interesting becauseit’s unclear what connections this show might have to the state of the galaxy at the time. This was an extremely volatile period in theStar Warsuniverse, as the Empire had just fallen, the New Republic was in the process of coming together, and Imperial remnants had to be dealt with.
It’s known that this group of children will be lost, but that storyline is very vague. So far, it also doesn’t seem to include any Force-sensitive characters, although withStar Wars, that is of course entirely possible. This could mean a cameo by none other than Luke Skywalker. According to Lucasfilm,Skeleton Crewis “concurrent” withThe MandalorianandAhsoka- but it’s important to note the studio is refusing to clarify any further.This could also mean a connection to majorStar Warscharacters, as, presumably, the fact that both shows begin in the exact same year could mean a crossover. It may also simply mean the studio wish to avoid the problems seen withThe Mandalorianseason 3, where contradictory comments about placement caused a great deal of confusion.
There may be even more direct thematic connections. A newSkeleton Crewphoto showed anAhsokalink, with Jude Law’s mysterious Jedi investigating runes written in an early form of ur-Kittât.Ahsokarevealed this language originated from the extragalactic planet Peridea;Star Wars: Skeleton Crewis confirmed to be set on the very edge of the galaxy, so there may be even more ties.
