Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2already gives playersplenty of deadly toolsto destroy their enemies buttheir available arsenal has just grown bigger. Playing throughSpace Marine 2, most users will quickly gravitate toward certain weapons that allow for specific roles and play styles: Whether it’s something basic like the Bolt Rifle or the fiery power of a Pyreblaster, there’s a gun for everyone. Those who haven’t found their favorite should probably check out the latest gun because it certainly puts on quite the show.

PerSpace Marine 2’sSteampage, the recent 4.5 Patch adds the Neo-Volkite Pistol to the game and based on the gameplay trailer, it’s great for single-target removal.

A thermal ray weapon that deals accumulative damage to an enemy, once the target has sustained enough heat it will ultimately explode into a small pile of guts and blood. It’s gruesome to see in action so the Neo-Volkite’s addition makes perfect sense forSpace Marine 2, even if it may struggle to find a niche when compared to the likes of the Bolt Pistol or the Plasma Pistol.

Will The Neo-Volkite Pistol Make A Dent In The Meta

It Seems Unlikely

WhileSpace Marine 2is the kind of game that one can easily enjoy without focusing on the meta-experience,it’s worth noting that the Neo-Volkite Pistol likely won’t shift how players build their loadouts. In its launch state, its damage is slightly too low toreliably outpace the Plasma Pistoland its magazine size is small enough that even slightly straying from the target could result in them escaping. With a few buffs, it could be a top-tier sidearm but currently, it exists more as a fun gimmick.

The latestSpace Marine 2patch did more than just add the Neo-Volkite Pistol: It also includes some major balance tweaks to the established arsenal. Some of the more significant changes includethe Occulus Bolt Carabine gaining a scope and the Auto Bolt Rifle’s magazine size increasing by one.The Bolt Sniper Riflehas also had its fire rate increased from 50 to 60 rounds a minute which should make it much more useful.

The Neo-Volkite Pistol Represents A Good Step Forward

New Is Always Better

The Neo-Volkite Pistol may not be a massive game-changing addition toWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2but it represents something much better: Commitment. The community is simply happy to see Saber Interactive adding new weapons to the game; Even if it’s not especially powerful, the fact that the Neo-Volkite exists at all is exciting. I hopethe studio can maintain this momentumbecause players are clearly willing to support the developer and its efforts to grow the shooter.
