As babies, all the Primarchs were taken from the Emperor’s lab by the forces of Chaos and scattered across the galaxy. Fulgrim was deposited on a remote world and eventually became its leader before he was found by the Emperor. When meeting his father for the first time,Fulgrim dedicated himself to emulating the Emperor’s perfection. He became close with the fellow primarch Ferrus Manus, who forged the Fireblade for him to wield.
While conquering a planet, Fulgrim found a sword in a temple. Unbeknownst to him, the sword had a Slaaneshi demon, who corrupted his mind andturned his pursuit of perfection into a pursuit of hedonism.Fulgrim joined Horus and other traitorous forces during the Drop Site Massacre on Istvaan V. During that battle, Fulgrim slew his brother Ferrus Manus. Fulgrim was horrified by what he had done, but the Slaaneshi demon in his blade possessed him to keep the Emperor’s Children loyal. Fulgrim would eventually retake his body, but remained under Chaos’s sway until the end of the Horus Heresy.
