Saber Interactive has released an important update forWarhammer40,000: Space Marine 2, titled “Obelisk.” One of the main additions in the Obelisk update is a new replayable map for the Operations mode, also named Obelisk. This is set on the burial planet of Demerium, and all players can access this map, regardless of whether they own a Season Pass. The update also introduces a new enemy called the Tzaangor Enlightened. This fast-moving Chaos unit rides a Disc of Tzeentch and can be found in all Operations missions involving the Thousand Sons.
For those who feltthe Season Pass was worth itand currently have it, a Dark Angels Chapter Pack is coming that includes a new Champion skin for the Bulwark class, weapon skins, a skin for the Storm Shield, and over 40 additional cosmetic items that represent different Dark Angels Successor Chapters. The update also brings technical improvements, like increased resolution and frame rates for PS5 Pro users. Also, PC users can finally take advantage of AMD’s FSR 3 and Nvidia’s DLSS 3 with frame generation support.

For this Operation, you’ll be sent to Demerium to rotate a replica of the obelisk to disrupt the flow of energy protecting the Aurora device. This operation takes place in parallel to the final events of the campaign. To reach the console control of the obelisk, you’ll have to make it through a tomb plunged into darkness. To make your progression even tougher, the Chaos forces see a new addition to their roster: the Tzaangor Enlightened, a new Majoris enemy! They will now appear in every PvE Operation with Chaos.
How The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Obelisk Update Improves The Game
It’s A Big Update
The Obelisk update has brought a lot of new content toWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2,including the new Operation map, which should make co-op more replayable because of its new PvE challenges. The new XP rewards based on how many enemies players defeat in Operations mode (called the “Extermination Bonus”) should help players progress faster. There were also melee system fixes, which will make that system a lot better for players who have been having trouble with it.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 - How Titus Is Still Alive After 200 Years
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 reveals that there is a 200 year time jump from the first game, and Titus is still alive to be the protagonist of both.
These updates andnew Twitch dropsshould bring more attention to the game, as players are rewarded for watching popular streamers, and bugs have been fixed. While Obelisk and the Tzaangor Enlightened enemy also deliver more gameplay for free, The Dark Angels Chapter Pack gives players a reason to buy the Season Pass, helping the developers make more money. Saber Interactive has also made technical improvements, like adding FSR 3 and DLSS 3, which improve how the game looks and runs on different computers.

Our Take: A Huge Win For Players
It’s Hard To Find Anything Wrong Here
I’m excited about this update, mostly because I like theWarhammer 40,000universe and had high hopes forWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Many thoughtthe future of Space Marine 2 was in trouble, but this makes me disagree. It’s great to see a mix of free content and paid options,so players who prefer not to put more money into the game don’t feel left out. I understand that every developer has to make money, andgiving more rewards to those who get the Season Pass is a very player-friendly way to do this.
While the new mission and enemy makes the game much more replayable, the fixes that came inthe 5.0 Patchare a great addition. The 5.0 patch covers minor bugs, but it also tackles things players have spoken about. For example, the update to melee increases the weak damage and even changes things up so players can stop spamming Parry - Gun Strike. While I’m very sure that’s going to get balanced and adjusted even more, it’s a big step forward forWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
