Why did VP launch a CS:GO academy roster?

Virtus.Pro already has an academy roster for its Dota 2 division. VP.Prodigy is one of themost prominent Dota 2 teamsand even performed better than the main roster for some time. Virtus.Pro has recruited players from Russia and the CIS region for the VP.Prodigy CS:GO roster.

After VP.Prodigy’s success in Dota 2 it became obvious that youngsters squads are the next big thing, that’s why we decided to continue on this path. There are a lot of different tournaments right now for our second roster to participate in, without interfering with our first roster. Two squads can successfully coexist in the ecosystem. Launching a second roster is yet another way for us to display our eagerness to develop young players and esports in general.

Virtus.Pro initially formed VP.Prodigy for CS:GO in September 2020. The team featured Ukrainian and Russian players. However, middling results meant roster changes and ultimately the organization released the entire roster. The team coach Vladislav “Flash_1” Bykov took on the responsibility of finding new players and creating a brand new roster.

How was the VP.Prodigy CS:GO roster selected?

Themain objective of forming a new academy rosterwas to produce better results. The process for selecting players for the academy roster included judging a player’s skill, but also his game sense and communication with other members of the roster. The synergy between the players was instrumental in deciding the final list of players on VP.Prodigy.

We started off this summer searching for a team leader — a coach capable of leading young players. We have watched a ton of demos together and communicated with lots of players. Our main goal was to find not only skilled players but also interesting personalities who could avoid conflicts and work together as a team. As far as I can tell, we’ve managed to build a perfect squad in terms of team morale and potential. We started off this summer searching for a team leader — a coach capable of leading young players.
