Today’s Connections Category Hints

AUGUST 13 #428

If you want some hints about these categories before we tell you what they are, you can look at the bullet points below:

If you are still a bit confused like I was, do not worry. My confusion is to your gain, and I have all the category names you could hope for in the table down below:

TOLD

VOICED

To haveVOICED your concerns usually means that you have SAID, SPOKE, or TOLD someone elsewho has the power to make a change. It was a little odd for this category to be in the past tense, but it did help differentiate these words from the others.

When you have uncles who constantly make the “past tents” joke, it’s not hard to remember some of the meanings behind those jokes. What makes these jokes worse is they are all married with children, making this case of the dad joke even worse than before.

MONIKER

SOBRIQUET

SOBRIQUET was an interesting choice to throw in with all the others, not because it does not share a definition but more sodue to the age of the word. It’s possible that my European friends would be a little more familiar with this term on the whole, as I mostly knew this from years of taking other Romance languages. However, DESIGNATION, HANDLE, and MONIKER all seem to go together very well so it is only a matter of narrowing down the fourth word if you do not know what that word means.

5 Letter Words Wordle Hasn’t Used Yet (Updated Daily)

Wordle, the popular word-guessing game hosted by The New York Times, has over 1,700 words remaining as possible solutions.

PRONOUNCED

STRIKING

This category feels fairly straightforward at the outset, butsome of those “Nickname” words could be used here as well. This makes it a little more challenging than otherwise due to the potential overlap, and I could see some of the other words from “Stated” and “Obvious” ending up with one or two of these words instead. Luckily, the category name may not fully match the rest of the aesthetic.

ROUGH

WHEEL

This one had me stumped for a little while, as Icould not figure out where POWER and ROUGH came in. Luckily, after messing around a little bit with categories two and three, I was able to figure out these words and select them without any more issues. However, I could see someone struggling with this one if they thought the category name was something else as I also did.
