Today’s Connections Category Hints

FEBRUARY 24 #624

This puzzle mainly hurt me because I was very close but not close enough to what one of the categories was. Even when I gave up on that one and moved on to another one, there were enough different words that could go in that one that I messed up again. That led to a sad defeat for me andthe knowledge that there are a lot of words that could crossover into different categories given the chance. To help you avoid that, here are some clues to help you start narrowing things down.

10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

If you want to get the best ending for today’s puzzle, the hints may not be enough. If that is the case, you can get the category namesin the box below or more spoilers down below.

SCARF

WOLF

This one is the second category that got me. SWALLOW can also be used in this exact context, so I had 5 words to choose from and not enough to narrow it down. I knew that this was the theme, but understanding why SWALLOW wouldn’t go here was a little harder. It didn’t help that the “nautical” category was the other one I had gotten close to, and I didn’t think SWALLOW went there at this point. I would have moved on to a different category, but I was all out of guesses.

CAVE

GIVE

I hadn’t gotten to this category, but I had tried to use BOW a couple of different times. I could also see GIVE maybe going with some of the other ones. CAVE also could fit a nautical theme, or at least it might for me,but not with the added context that it is supposed to be tattoo-related. I think the words chosen here also add to some of the confusion. And, of course, the fun part where English just likes to have two words that look exactly the same but are pronounced differently and have entirely different meanings.

9 Helpful Tips To Beat The Password Game (& 1 Useless One)

The Password Game can be frustrating as it uses complex mechanics that can be difficult to figure out, even with help.

MERMAID

SWALLOW

This one did mess with me, but I knew it was a somewhat nautical theme. Unfortunately, I thought it was parts of a ship, since MERMAIDs were typically on the BOW of a ship, and I never even considered that SWALLOW might go here.I tried a couple of different combinations before I decided to move on and come back later, but unfortunately, SWALLOW really was my downfall today, since it also messed with me in the previous category.

HEARTH

SHINE

This one is kind of crazy, and I don’t know if I would have gotten this one without getting the others first. I have gotten the purple category first before, but this one just feels a little weird. There are a lot of different ways you could interpret or categorize these words, but I will say that beyond BUTTE and CAVE possibly belonging together, there aren’t many other crossover words hereand that could help you solve this one early if you tried.
