Sometimes inConnections, it can feel like the answers are glittering off the page, whereas other times it feels like they are extremely obscured. In times like that, it will take a lighthouse to guide the proverbial boat into the harbor. We may not be as important and life-saving as a real lighthouse, it is nice to have a little light on the matter to keep you from losing your streak and messing up your Connections stats.
If you want a puzzle similar toConnectionsbut with a very different setup, you should try theLetter Boxeddaily puzzle. It is a nifty puzzle where you have to figure out the various words byconnecting letters around a square-shaped box. It can take a few puzzles to get used to the format, but once you are, you may establish a flow that makes it easier to figure them out day-by-day.

Today’s Connections Category Hints
AUGUST 30 #445
If you just want a few hints to light the way, we have four for you that all correspond to a separate category:
If that does not quite help you finish the puzzle, there are still some more tips to check out. The table below has each category name to help give you a nudge in the right direction:

ICE ___
GOLD
SEQUIN
We all likeshiny, sparkling thingsoccasionally. This was a fairly easy category to spot due to the words jumping off the page. GLITTER is a little less prestigious than the other words here, but does bring back memories of the kind we used for colorguard and how I still sometimes find that GLITTER in my hair years later. SEQUINS are always a nice fun edition to make everyday things sparkle, but DIAMOND and GOLD are in a league of their own.
FENCE
ROW
The phrasing of this category makes me angry for some reason. Italmost sounds like a question, and the answers do not match the same phrasing. Perhaps the question should have been left without the first two words to make it clearer.
That being said, I was stumped on this one for a little while, as I kept thinking about the other definitions for all of these words. That is a little ironic, as the next category I solved in a way that you would think I would recognize fencing when I saw it.

Wordle History: Today’s Answer & All Past Words
Wordle is a simple daily word game that has taken the internet by storm. With only 6 chances to get the right answer, players may need a little help.
PYRAMID
TEMPLE
This is the category where seemingly my knowledge of ancient civilizations took over without me realizing it. This is a veryGreek-oriented version of the wonders of the world, but that is likely why I was able to recognize it without thinking too much about it. Or maybe I was briefly possessed by the spirit of Aristotle. Either way, getting these words out of the way did help solve the rest of the puzzle.
MACHINE
STORM
I did look at these words and wonder how MACHINE and STORM were connected for a while. Now that I know what the answer is, I feel a bit silly. But to be fair,CREAM and CUBE are the easiest to recognize, and an ice STORM is not something I get to see very much in the deep, sweltering armpit of the south. Perhaps now that summer is waning, cooler weather will be on the way.
