Theability for Thor to create constructs of lightningisn’t new, but being able to talk through them is. While shaping lightning is a natural extension of his power set, the ability to talk through it, however, feels a little more mythical, apropos of the character’s nature as Marvel’s current Asgardian All-Father.

Not only can he shape it, butThor can talk to lightning, deflecting attacks by simply asking them to move. This is exactly what Thor does inGiant-Size #1; he tells the electricity stored within a giant robot to obey him and carry his message. This isn’t him summoning lightning via Mjölnir, it’s himshaping existing lightning into a new form, showing a mastery of his powers.

Associated with the mythical realm of Asgard, Thor is a Marvel Comics hero who channels the power of thunder to slay their foes. Though the name is chiefly tied to Thor Odinson, several other characters also take on the role of God of Thunder, including Odinson’s love interest, Jane Foster. Odin is portrayed as a physically imposing hero with incredible strength and typically wields the dwarven forged hammer, Mjolnir.
