Ava Coleman is obviously the principal inAbbott Elementary, but she’s not exactly the best person for the job (despite her character growth over the seasons), andone person (who is not Gregory Eddie) should replace Ava by the time the show ends. The ABC mockumentary sitcom, created by Quinta Brunson, follows the teachers, administrators, and other staff members at Willard R. Abbott Elementary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over the course of three seasons, most oftheAbbott Elementarycharactershave retained their initial jobs, but that doesn’t mean change isn’t in their futures.

TheAbbott Elementaryseason 3 finalefeatured the teachers (and Ava) celebrating the end of the school year with a party at Janine Teagues' apartment. Much to the surprise of many, the episode ended with Janine and Gregory finally succumbing to their feelings for one another, which will likely play a big part in the upcoming season. However, as for the characters' personal development,Janine made a lot of progress in her career in season 3,which could (and should) easily lead to a job change in future episodes.

Janine Is Better Suited Than Gregory To Be Abbott Elementary’s Principal

Gregory’s Initial Goal Was To Become A Principal

While Gregory has made it clear that his goal is to become a principal, after the events of season 3, Janine is better suited for the position. ThisJanine twist could shake things up inAbbott Elementaryseason 4, or perhaps the writers might want to push back this possible development until later in the TV show’s run. Whatever the case,Janine has proven that she has what it takes to be a principal, and Ava should be worried. Meanwhile, Gregory hasn’t grown as much as his classroom neighbor.

Mr. Johnson

As some may recall,Janine accepted a fellowship at the school districtatthe beginning ofAbbott Elementaryseason 3. Janine eventually made her way back to Abbott, but her time at the school district was informative and great for her resume, as Quinta Brunson’s character demonstrated that her talents extended outside the classroom. Perhaps Janine won’t ever want to return to the school district as she loves working with kids, which is why she should be the principal. However, if Janine were to ever become the principal of Abbott Elementary over Gregory, tension might arise in their relationship.

Abbott Elementary Season 3’s Finale Paid Off Its Oldest Story Perfectly After 3 Years

The Abbott Elementary season 3 finale paid off its oldest storyline after 3 years and, impressively enough, the episode’s ending was worth the wait.

Gregory Accepting Janine Deserves The Principal Job Would Be A Big Step In His Arc

Gregory Has Grown A Lot Since Abbott Elementary Season 1

Janine becoming the principal over Gregory might be a blow to his ego since he has spent so much time working towards this goal. However, if Gregory is able to accept reality and be happy for Janine (in this theoretical situation), it would be significant for his character development, which is already quite impressive. Of course, only time will tell if Ava ever vacates her position and Janine becomes the principal, but anything can happenwhenAbbott Elementaryseason 4 premieres.
