Netflix’s uproarious sitcomThe Upshawshas quietly amassed an impressive six-part run thus far, and now the series is set to return for its seventh and final installment soon. Created for the small screen by Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes, the series concerns a working-class Black family in Indiana who attempt to succeed in business while also building their familial bonds. The crux of the show is Bennie’s (Mike Epps) auto repair business, and his frayed relationship with his sister-in-law and business partner, Lucretia (Sykes). While not a groundbreaking concept,The Upshawsshines because of its whip-smart humor.
Though Netflix is known for itsmassive series with gigantic budgets, the streamer has also found success with smaller projects likeThe Upshaws. The cheap and quick-to-produce show has allowed it to run for four seasons since 2021, even as the streamer’s signature shows languish in production limbo indefinitely. Unfortunately,The Upshawspart 7 is confirmed to end the popular sitcom, and it will go off the air after an impressive five-season run. While it’s not clear what’s in store for Bennie and the rest of the Upshaw family, part 7 will undoubtedly be a laugh-riot like its predecessors.

The Upshaws Part 7 Is Confirmed
Netflix Renewed & Canceled The Show In Mid-2024
Even before the premiere of part 6 in early 2025, Netflix had already made up their minds aboutThe Upshawspart 7. With the news coming in June 2024, Netflix announced (viaDeadline) that not only had the sitcom earned its seventh part, but thatpart 7 would also conclude the series. While no reason for the cancelation was given, it seems as if the decision to end the show was a mutual agreement.
Part 7 will consist of a total of 12 episodes, and it will presumably arrive at some point in 2025.

The preemptive renewal (before part 6’s premiere) suggests that it was always on the cards for the show to run for five seasons, and it is already one of the streamer’s most successful multi-camera shows. Part 7 will consist of a total of 12 episodes, and it will presumably arrive at some point in 2025. With the ending ofThe Upshawssometime soon,Netflix will no longer have any more multi-camera sitcoms on their platform. That ’90s Showran concurrently withThe Upshawsfor two seasons, but was canceled in 2024.
The Upshawspart 6 (a.k.a. season 4) debuted on July 20, 2025.

The Upshaws Part 7 Will Be The Final Season
The Upshaws Say Goodbye Soon
One of the most unique aspects of the Netflix original sitcom is its season numbering scheme, and the series employs a part system. When the show debuted in 2021, all 10 episodes were released at once and it was simply called season 1. However, season 2’s 16-episode run was split into two parts which were henceforth called parts 2 and 3, making season 1 part 1. That trend continued into season 3 (which aired between 2023 and 2024), which was split up into parts 4 and 5. However, part 6 is the entirety of season 4, andpart 7 will be the entirety of season 5as well.
The 12-episode season 5 (a.k.a. part 7) will wrap upThe Upshaws, and it will also help the show crack into the top 3 as one of the longest-running multi-camera sitcoms in the streamer’s history. The final season will takeThe Upshawsto a total of 60 episodes, placing it only behindFuller House(which ran for 75 episodes) andThe Ranch(80 episodes). While no reason for the show’s cancelation is known, it will at least get a conclusive ending because of its preemptive renewal.

The Upshaws Part 7 Story Details
How Will The Upshaws End?
Concluding a sitcomis always a tricky business, andThe Upshawswill be no exception to that time-tested tradition. While a heartfelt sendoff is expected, the specific story details are somewhat more elusive because of the low-stakes nature of sitcoms.Bennie will likely continue to struggle to keep his garage afloat, while also dealing with the ups and downs of family life. Meanwhile,Lucretia’s own restlessness will likely come to a head in the last batch of episodes, and she may either stay with her family or leave once again.
Bennie and Regina’s kids are also entering new stages of their lives, and not only does that provide storytelling fodder for part 7, but it also offers an emotional challenge for their parents. As if things were stressful enough for Bennie and Regina, they may need to learn to cope with the fact that their tight-knit family unit is growing up and growing apart. Part 7’s 12 episodes will likely be packed to the brim, but they won’t sacrifice any of the light humor that works so well. Whatever happens in the final season ofThe Upshaws,it’s guaranteed to be a funny ride.
