Our Take On The Summer I Turned Pretty Ending With Season 3
It’s For The Best
The premise has a time restraint. With the story being coming-of-age, the show was never meant to be a long-running series. Belly is 16 in season 1 and 17 in the following. It’s likely that she’s becoming an adult inThe Summer I Turned Prettyseason 3. To continue the show would mean tapping into the mature space of an adult. While it works for some shows, it’s not what the show is about.
Letting the show go further than season 3 would likely ruin the characters and their stories, not to mention, alienate book fans. The Summer I Turned Prettytells a particular story that explores themes associated with the coming-of-age experience. Ending in season 3 would respect the special space created in the series. While there’s some sadness towards the show’s ending,it’s likely for the best.
