The Rookiestar Nathan Fillion has confirmed two villains will return in season 7, teasing who the team will have to deal with in the upcoming episodes. The Rookieseason 7is already no stranger to returning threats, with Nolan (Fillion) already having to deal with Bailey’s (Jenna Dewan) ex-husband, Jason (Steve Kazee) following his escape from prison. While Jason is now dead, there are still threats lurking in the shadows that have yet to strike the team. While the aftermath of Bailey’s husband’s demise has been important, there were other threats associated with him the show hasn’t addressed yet.

Speaking withCollider, however,Fillion confirmed thatformer lawyer Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan) and criminal Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) will be coming backinThe Rookieseason 7. The series star addressed how well the show can establish big villains and bring them back later, teasing just how big an issue the pair cropping up again is going to be for the team. Check out what Fillion had to say below:

Deric Augustine as Miles and Patrick Keleher as Seth in The Rookie season 7

[The Rookie] is introducing characters that are problematic for our main cast, and then being able to bring them back to continue to be a problem.

We’re going to have Bridget [Regan] come back and Matt [Glave] come back as both Monica and Oscar. Two people who have been thorns in the sides of these police officers for some time now, especially Oscar, boy, he’s been a real rat.

What Fillion’s Statement Means For The Rookie’s Returning Villains

Season 7 Isn’t Done With Danger Yet

Monica and Oscar were last seen inThe Rookieseason 6 finale, when the former lawyer broke the prisoner out for her own long-term plans against the team. She was also the one who released Jason, resulting in the storyline in the first half of the season that ended in his death. As of writing, it’s unclear what her and her new companion are going to do, but Fillion’s statement signals they’ll both be coming back as key villains at some point as the season continues.

I’m Thankful For The Rookie Season 7’s Sleaziest New Recruit For Chenford’s Best Post-Split Scene Thus Far

Seth is one of the worst trainees on The Rookie ever, but I’m grateful for the entertainment factor he brings and the Chenford scenes he provokes.

While Monica is a clear threat to the group,Oscar previously served as an informant, becoming attached to Nolan in the process. It’s unclear ifcharacters onThe Rookiewill be able to reason with him depending on what the duo’s plans are, but his close relationship with the protagonist could be a deciding factor in how events play out. Based on what the lead actor said, however, the villainous capacity in which these two come back means they could be the biggest threat the team has faced so far.

Our Take On The Rookie Season 7’s Returning Villains

A Necessary Step After Season 6’s Cliffhanger

It makes sense for both Monica and Oscar to beThe Rookieseason 7’s next major threats, especially given their escape was such a major cliffhanger for the season 6 finale. Their plans are likely going to have important repercussions for the series, especially since they’ve had months to figure out what they’re going to do next. Whether they plan to attack the team directly or are working on their own criminal activities is unclear. However, they’ll be crossing paths with the heroes soon, promising a memorable clash.

New episodes ofThe Rookieseason 7 air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
