This new theory hints towardsThe Mandalorian & Grogu, the nextStar Warsmovie, bringing the first Mandalorian Jedi,Tarre Vizsla, to live-action for the very first time. The Mandalorian & Groguwill be a huge step forward for both theStar WarsandThe Mandalorianfranchises, widening the scale ofDin DjarinandGrogu’s story like never before - without losing sight of these two beloved characters. One story thread will be especially important asThe Mandalorian’s story advances, most notably because of what it foretells about Din and Grogu’s future.

The Armorer first spoke about theMythosaurprophecy inThe Book of Boba Fett, when she told Din Djarin that “The songs of eons past foretold of the Mythosaur rising up to herald a new age of Mandalore.” This Mythosaur was first seen inThe Mandalorianseason 3 byBo-Katan Kryzein theLiving Waterson Mandalore, and later on, Grogu sensed the same creature in the same place - presumably through the Force. Because this prophecy will no doubt be seen inThe Mandalorian’s story,Star Warswill have to go back to where it all began: ancient Mandalore.

Star Wars' Mandalorian Timeline & History Explained

As the greatest warriors in the Star Wars galaxy, Mandalorians have a rich and expanding history, and this is their full timeline in canon explained.

Ancient Mandalore (& Mandalorians) Have Never Been Seen Before

The Big Screen is the Perfect Place to Show Ancient Mandalore

The Armorer describes the above prophecy as going back “eons,” though Mandalorians have only existed for about 10,000 years - something else she confirms inThe Book of Boba Fett. Despite this storied history for Mandalorians, little of ancient Mandalore has actually ever been seen. Aside from some illustrations, such as that above, fromStar WarsLegends properties, ancient Mandalore has existed almost solely in folklore. By showing the ancient Mandalore and Mandalorians, this prophecy could become even more significant.

The closestStar Warshas come to showing what ancient Mandalorians look like in canon is Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian Jedi and the creator of theDarksaber. Tarre Vizsla’s appearance has so far only been seen in artistic depictions made forStar Wars Rebels, but there are significant differences between Vizsla’s armor and that of modern Mandalorians. Vizsla’s helmet has the same T-shape visor, though it doesn’t fully conceal his face, making it look more like a real-world knight’s helmet. There is, however, a hint at what the planet may have once looked like in ancient times.

Season 3 Hinted At What Ancient Mandalore Once Looked Like

Mandalore’s Vegetation Is Slowly Growing Back

The closestStar Warsaudiences have come to seeing the ancient Mandalore was inThe Mandalorianseason 3. There’s a moment with the planet’s greenery in the season 3 finale that has to be significant, as it was kept in the final cut for a reason - even though it’s quite a quick scene that seems to serve no real purpose to the overall episode, aside from continuing the thematic idea of hope and life persisting in the face of destruction. This could have been setting up audiences' first real look at ancient Mandalore inThe Mandalorian & Grogu.

Long ago,all of Mandalore used to look this way, but after constant wars against adversaries like the Jedi, the entire surface was destroyed- leaving nothing but sand behind. Life like this, as Bo-Katan says inThe Mandalorianseason 3, could only be fostered and sustained in Mandalore’s domed cities, such as thecivic center of Sundari. After theGreat Purgedestroyed those cities, too, it was assumed that all of Mandalore’s previous vegetation had also been destroyed. This season 3 scene, however, proves otherwise, and ties back into the ancient days of Mandalore.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Ending Explained

The Mandalorian season 3 has come to an end with an action-packed finale, complete with more than a few surprise twists and teases for the future.

The Movie Could Feature A Flashback Of Tarre Vizsla

This Moment in Mandalorian History Could Flesh Out the Prophecy

This hint about exploring ancient Mandalore inThe Mandalorian & Grogu, along with both the importance of this ancient prophecy and theRebelsconcept art of Tarre Vizsla that already exists, suggest that Mandalore’s most famous ancient warrior could potentially be seen in a flashback in the upcoming movie.Vizsla would be the perfect Mandalorian figure to focus on when looking back to ancient Mandalore, given how influential he’s become to the Mandalorian history that’s since been seen throughoutStar Wars. He also has a unique connection to the titular characters.

How Din Djarin & Grogu Tie Into Tarre Vizsla’s Story

The biggest motive for showing a flashback of Tarre Vizsla, specifically inThe Mandalorian & Grogu,is because of how his story connects to Din and Grogu’s. Din Djarin wielded the Darksaber for a time after winning it from Moff Gideon, and thoughDin Djarin never mastered the Darksaber, he is still forever a part of the weapon’s history. As for Grogu, he is technically still a Mandalorian Jedi, as he will continue to use the ways of the Force even as he trains as a Mandalorian apprentice under Din Djarin’s teachings and supervision.

Going back to the moment when this prophecy was first foretold, perhaps during Tarre Vizsla’s time, would give it so much more weight when it’s eventually seen through in The Mandalorian’s future stories

Not only that, butthe duo also belong to a group of Mandalorians who have direct descendants of Tarre Vizsla among them. Though Paz Vizsla himself has since died in the name of rescuing his fellow Mandalorians, he has a son in Ragnar Vizsla, and it’s likely that Paz wasn’t the only Vizsla amongst the Children of the Watch, anyway. To go back to who is perhaps the most famous Vizsla and show more of him in his prime would be a wise decision, which seems especially likely considering the fact that director Jon Favreau is also a Vizsla.

Jon Favreau voiced Pre Vizsla inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, and voiced Paz Vizsla inThe Mandalorianuntil his physical actor, Tait Fletcher, took over the full role.

The most significant tie to Tarre Vizsla, however, isthe Armorer bringing up the prophecy only after she recounts the Mandalorian Jedi’s history and legacy. Going back to the moment when this prophecy was first foretold, perhaps during Tarre Vizsla’s time, would give it so much more weight when it’s eventually seen through inThe Mandalorian’s future stories, includingThe Mandalorian & Grogu. While it’s still left to be seen whetherThe Mandalorian & Groguactually shows ancient Mandalore and Tarre Vizsla or not, it’s certainly an exciting possibility.
