2021 is coming to a close, butThe Gunkis sliding right under the wire. Today, Thunderful Games announced thatThe Gunkis coming to Xbox and PC on Dec. 16, and it will be on Game Pass at launch.
Announced during today’s Thunderful World event,The Gunkis a new game from theSteamWorlddevelopers Image & Form, all about dealing with all the gunk. It has frequently given meSuper Mario Sunshinevibes, which is a hefty comparison. But given the studio’s past work onSteamWorldgames, it seems like one to at least keep an eye on.

The Gunkwill hit both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC via the Windows Store, on Dec. 16. It’s coming to Game Pass on day one too, so if sucking up the gunk seems interesting, there’s something to do over the holidays.
Afew other Thunderful games were confirmedfor Xbox today too. Moody monochromatic puzzle platformerWhite Shadowswas locked in for Xbox Series X|S on Dec. 7, theHalf-LifeinspiredIndustriawill come to the next-gen Xbox in 2022, and the gorgeous-lookingPlanet of Lanais still set as an Xbox console exclusive in 2023.
As for theSteamWorldfolks, they had a few announcements aside fromThe Gunk. They showed offSteamWorld Headhunter, the next game in theSteamWorlduniverse, andSteamWorld Dig 2isfree-to-keep for a short time on PC.
