Season 1 ofThe First Descendantwill be launching on July 01, 2025, and it will arrive with a bang. Abrand-new Descendant, Hailey, will be launched on the same day. Fans have theorized about her abilities since she was first teased, but Nexon has finally released concrete information about her skills.
Much likeViessa’sFirst Descendantbuild, Hailey’s skills will focus on inflicting chill damage. Unlike Viessa, however,Hailey’s abilities are more focused around gunplay, which makes sense given her sniper background. Some of these abilities seem similar in function to the skills of other Descendants, so learning Hailey should hopefully be relatively straightforward.

Hailey’s Cryo Round Will Make Sharen Jealous

Hailey’s first skill isCryo Round, which fires small ice-covered bullets at enemies automatically. This ability looks similar to Iron Man’s automated defense system, complete with a shoulder mount and rapid targeting of enemies. In effect, it will also be similar to Sharen’s Flash Shortsword skill, though it will not require the same windup time to be effective.
Cryo Round will also inflict Cryo, a debilitating status effect which is unique to Hailey.

Storm Snare Combines Ajax’s Expulsion And Viessa’s Cold Snap
Angular Shot And Expulsion Effect
The second skill of Hailey’s isStorm Snare, an ability which turns her anti-materiel rifle into its cannon configuration for massive damage. This beam will fire in a rectangle in front of Hailey, acting like Viessa’s Cold Snap with a longer range. Similarly to her Cryo Round ability, Storm Snare will also inflict Cryo on enemies affected by the beam.

While the cannon shot is the more visually spectacular part of the attack, Storm Snare does have another element. Using it will also unleash an AOE effect around Hailey, which hasthe additional benefit of pushing enemies away from her before firing off the cannon shot.This is similar to Ajax’s Expulsion ability, which inflicts damage and knocks enemies back. Hailey’s blast will also apply Cryo to enemies, so even Vulgus who are behind her will feel the pain.
Cold Fury Will Be The Opposite Of Viessa’s Frost Road
Become Slower To Boost Skills And Firearms
Viessa’s Frost Road ability increases her movement speed and leaves a trail of ice behind her, though a transcendent module reduces MP cost and cooldowns at the cost of the trail. In some ways, Hailey’s Cold Fury ability will be the opposite of this. Instead of increasing movement speed,Hailey will actually become slower. Also, rather than solely boosting her skills, Cold Fury will improve her firearms' critical hit rate and penetration.

There are a ton of things to discover in The First Descendant, and it’s pretty easy to overlook important features and mechanics that change the game.
Cold Fury also increases the critical hit rate for Hailey’s skills. This makes it a good idea touse Cold Fury as a setup for Hailey’s other damaging abilities, like Storm Snare and Cryo Round. Depending on whether her Cryo effect can cause critical hits, this may also result in even more powerful lingering damage.
Zenith Is The Perfect Ability For Taking Out Colossi
Huge Damage And MP Recovery
The final ability Hailey will unlock is Zenith.This allows her to use her massive anti-materiel rifle as a sniper riflefor massive damage. While damage output is great, the shots from this rifle will also recover Hailey’s MP when she strikes Weak Points, giving her an MP recovery option which does not rely on killing lesser enemies.
Combine Zenith’s Weak Point bonuses with its increased firearm attack and penetration, and you get the perfect weapon for killing Colossi. While it might not one-shot their Weak Points, it will still be ideal for keeping Hailey in the fight longer.
