Gluttony is not only the newest boss inThe First Descendantbut the hardest one to beat as well. AtLevel 140, this boss is not easy and will not be one-shot even by excellent S-tier Descendant builds - at least not yet. However, players with the right strategy and strong communication can still defeat him, though they need to be careful and use caution to ensure they finish the fight.
Thebest characters inThe First Descendantare still sometimes not enough in the toughest boss fights. However, beating Gluttony will give you some fantastic rewards and allow you to take him on again and again to continue farming these rewards. If you manage that, you will be well ready for the next update when another new difficult boss fight drops.

Preparing For The Fight Against Gluttony

Knowing how to prepare is half the battle in this fight, particularly as it is not quite like any other boss fight in the game. This fight is going to be easier if you playmultiplayer inThe First Descendant. This is because having the support and being able to help each other is going to go a long way. However,you do need to play with a very communicative team, as a non-communicative team will actually hurt your chances rather than help them.
Gluttony has some interesting resistances and weaknesses, which make him a little harder to face. He comes with theChill Attribute, but this makes him difficult to face in certain circumstances. He isweak to Fire damageas one might expect, but he has very strong resistance to ability damage and can hit quite hard.

Best Weapons & Modules To Bring
For weapons, you are going to look for something with strong firepower that can have mods with the Fire Attribute attached.Enduring Legacy is a great pick, which can have a very high DPS and just takes General Rounds. Finding the right rolls for it is also important, such as:
Agood sniper riflewill also come in handy, as you might want to back up and shoot Gluttony’s weak points from afar. This will come in handy during certain points of the boss fight discussed later. As for Modules, youare going to want Chill Resistance above all else. Other helpful general Modules would be Increased DEF and Increased HP.

Best Descendants Against Gluttony
Therearen’t any Descendants that are going to make this fight easy, but there are acouple of Descendants in the gamethat will make it a little bit easier. Theboss hits pretty hard, and it can even take out a tanky Ajax in just a few hits. You will want to bring the tankiest, strongest hitting characters. Squishy Descendants will immediately get destroyed, so be sure your character can handle it.
This includesGley and Enzofor their damage abilities, andYujin and Ajaxfor the Support roles. Yujin is very good at keeping everyone healthy, and Ajax can take a few punches even if he cannot take more than that without some form of healing in this fight. Lepin is still an option, but the main thing to keep in mind is that communication is key and you will need to coordinate with your teammates.
How To Beat Gluttony In The First Descendant
Counters & Abilities
One of the most important things to keep in mind is thatstaggering this boss is more important than in other boss fights, and the timing to do so is key. Staggering happens when a destructible part is removed, and for this fight, you are going to want to reduce the health of each part in phase 1, butnot actually remove them and stagger the boss until phase 2. This timing is incredibly important because Gluttony becomes quite prone to full-party wiping in phase 2, and you will need everything you can to keep him from doing so.
This is because Gluttony’s mechanic is that he has a large gun with a purple meter that will continue to fill throughout the fight. This is mainly done through his frenzied state, when purple orbs will start appearing from various machines across the map and move toward him.You need to destroy these purple orbs, because if you don’t and the meter fills, your entire party will be wiped out immediately. This is your main priority throughout the fight.
Another way to stop him from filling up this meter is that during his frenzied state,snow orbs will appearand you will want to shoot them toward him. You do not want to stand too close, as they can and will drop on you and freeze you instead. Instead, you will want tomaintain a safe distance and prod them onward toward Gluttonyto keep his rage from being unleashed.
This is where Enduring Legacy works really well. Thesnow orbs will link themselves to a purple orband you will want to shoot the purple orb once the snow orbs are closest to him. This cools his meter down and you will be in less danger of dying. Right after you cool him down and he is no longer immune, during phase 2, is when you are going to want togo for shoulders and attempt to get the stagger.
In phase 2, hegoes immune extremely quickly and the cooling off mechanic is quite difficult, so get to those shoulders, get the stagger, and pump damage into the weak spots. As soon as this happens, you need to make sure you are grabbing the snow orbs again as he is going to immediately get enraged again. This is where most boss fight runs will end. The recommendation fromYouTuber Moxsyis to havetwo people on snow orb duty at all times in phase 2 and two people on DPS. This gives you the leeway to run his health down and go for the kill.
