Once that treasure was within his grasp, opening aportal to the American Dream, Pedrowould drift back to the “friend” that was later revealed to be a former love interest - the aforementioned Coraima.
Could he really be so cold-hearted?Such a plan would necessitate years of deception.He would be conning the woman he was sleeping with every night… the one who probably made him his coffee in the morning. He would spend all his time with her, talking about their bright future together. He would tell her he wanted to father her children.
Pedro would weave his spells, enchanting the American woman until she believed every single word. Then, when it was time to launch the plan, he would need to change… change so dramatically that Chantel was confused, depressed and miserable. This about-face was the epitome of cruelty.
To pull away,Pedro needed to create a new persona- one that would hopefully push her away in such an extreme way that she’d leave him, so he didn’t have to leave her. It tied together the entire master plan, bringing it to fruition.Pedro had his Green Card, he’d gotten rid of his pesky nuisance of a wife, and he was ready to be with his dream woman, Coraima.Alas, fate had a surprise in store for the wily player Pedro. Coraima, probably tired of waiting for him, stopped loving him. She fell in love with someone else.
That was perhaps the universe’s perfect revenge. Pedro, so sure of his power as a man, and his ability to bewitch, finally had to watch his magic wane. Coraima was engaged to someone else, and she didn’t even entertain the idea of leaving her partner for him. So, instead of stringing along two women, Pedro had none.
No matter -the smooth operator Pedrois not going to sit around crying, or maybe he will. It really seems like it’s Coraima that he wants. While he often appears to be someone who leads a charmed life, with blessing after blessing falling into his lap, Pedro was rejected by Coraima. This is something that probably doesn’t happen to him very often.The Family Chantelstar may always consider her the “one who got away.”
