The team behind the games,Remedy Entertainment, has branched out into another form of media in a new partnership with Annapurna. The studio that brought such hits asFoxcatcherandAmerican Hustleto the big screen will now be working with Remedy to adaptAlan Wake. Though details are incredibly scant, it is a logical choice for the next video game movie, considering its plot which is reminiscent of a classic thriller film or TV show.
Annapurna also develops video games such as 2022’sStray.
No names are attached to theAlan Wakemovie both behind and in front of the camera just yet, and it’s unclear where the project currently stands in the development process. Speaking of the new partnership between Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna, Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said:

With Remedy taking its first step into movies and TV, the studio is leaping headfirst with several projects at once. Besides theAlan Wakemovie,Remedy is also working with Annapurna to develop a TV series based onControl. The cult-classic game concerns the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, who must use her telekinetic powers to contain various supernatural forces.Controlis in the same universe asAlan Wake, andit’s unclear if the movie and TV show will also be connected. Additionally, Annapurna will collaborate with Remedy to bringthe long-awaitedControl 2video game to life.

However, details from his most recent novel begin to surface in real life, and the town of Bright Falls, Washington, begins to take on a new life of its own as inexplicable darkness slowly surrounds Alan.
