Taylor Sheridanis one of the biggest names in media right now. While his work spans film and television, his recent years have been consumed by multiple television series. Most notably, this has includedYellowstone, a modern Western series that has been appreciated by fans and critics alike.Yellowstoneseason 5, part 2 has begun airing and will continue to run episodes weekly on Sundays through December 15. TheYellowstoneuniversehas spun off into multiple other series, including1923and1883.
While theYellowstonefranchise is still going on strong, it isfar from the only thing Sheridan is currently doing on television.Jeremy Renner’sMayor of Kingstownwas also created by theYellowstonevisionary, showing even more of his range by expanding his roster of shows into the crime genre. Sheridan also createdTulsa King, a crime series starring Sylvester Stallone that aired season 2 this fall. As if Sheridan was not having a good enough year already with the release of new episodes from all of these series, a new record just proved his success once again.

Landman Has Set New TV Debut Records
Landman Is One of Paramount+’s Best Premieres
Sheridan’sLandmanhas nowset a streaming debut record. Based on the podcastBoom Townby Christian Wallace,Landmantakes audiences to West Texas to explore the modern-day oil industry. The series fluctuates between telling the story of those who run the oil companies and the townspeople who are in some way affected by the work. TheLandmancastincludes Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Jon Hamm, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, and James Jordan.
Christian Wallace co-createdLandmanwith Sheridan, who wrote all 10 episodes of season 1.

PerDeadline,Landmanhas now set a major streaming record for its debut. Paramount Global reported thatLandmanhad 5.2 million cross-platform same-day viewers for its debut. On streaming alone, this is the biggest premiere for a Paramount+ series in two years. The last show to debut with numbers this large was1923.Landmanhas also become one of the top three biggest TV launches in the history of Paramount+, joining1923andTulsa King. Additionally, for three-day viewing, theLandmanpremiere was the best domestic debut ever for the streamer.
What This Means For Landman
The Show Has A Bright Future
Given these strong numbers, it seems more than likely thatLandmanseason 2will be renewed before long. However, a renewal may not come for some time depending on how optimistic Paramount is about its prospects. So far, only two of the season’s 10 episodes have aired, so they may wish to wait and see if it retains this level of audience enthusiasm across its entire run. So far,the show has earned a 66% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which could indicate lukewarm feelings. Below, see how that score compares to the average audience scores of other Sheridan shows:
76%
1883(2021-2022)
83%
84%
1923(2022-)
56%
Landman(2024-)
66%
While it may not be perfectly connecting with the Paramount+ audience just yet, Taylor Sheridan’sLandmanhas a better score than Sheridan’s1923, which had strong enough viewership for it to be renewed for season 2 after only four of season 1’s eight episodes had aired. Additionally,Sheridan has set a long-standing precedent for longevity. Of the shows that he has created, the only one to not be renewed for season 2 was1883, though it was developed as a miniseries. Additionally, its storyline continues in1923, which effectively acts as a second season for theYellowstoneprequel spinoff.
Our Take On Landman’s Success
This Cements Sheridan As A TV Staple
What is even more notable thanLandman’s record itself is the fact thatall three of Paramount+’s top premieres are Sheridan-created shows. There is a reason Sheridan is involved in so many projects that get greenlit, and these numbers reflect that. It seems that, as long as Sheridan keeps making hits for Paramount+ and other networks, the creative will stay a dominant force in the TV landscape. Based on his new record withLandman, Taylor Sheridan is not slowing down any time soon.
Other shows that Sheridan has created or executive produced over the course of his career includeThe Last Cowboy,Lawmen: Bass Reeves, andSpecial Ops: Lioness.
This is also reflected byTaylor Sheridan’s roster of upcoming projects. In addition to impending episodes of his extant shows, which includes the in-production1923season 2, he is also involved in a wide variety of shows in various stages of development. This includes theupcomingYellowstonespinoffsThe Madisonand6666as well as the out-of-left-field projectThe Road, which is a CBS singing competition series also produced by Blake Shelton, who was a coach onThe Voicefor more than a decade.
