Lois Lane Makes Her First Earth-Prime, Post-Crisis Debut as Superwoman

Lois Lane’s First Appearance as Superwoman Took Place inAction Comics#60 (1943)

As previously mentioned,Lois Lane has a long history with the Superwoman mantle, starting with her debut as the first to assume the title inAction Comics#60(1943). Over the years, she has taken on the role multiple times, though the extent of her powers has varied. In some cases, she merely adopted the name and costume, while in others, she was fully super-powered. Most ofher appearances as Superwomanoccurred Pre-Crisis, with Post-Crisis versions coming from alternate Earths, including Earth-3, Earth-2, and Earth-0.

Because of this, fans have yet to see an Earth-Prime, non-evil Superwoman Lois Lane in a main continuity storyline, making her upcoming debut a game-changing moment in Superman lore. While details about her superpowered transformation are still unfolding, it’s likely that Lois gained her powers during the events ofAbsolute Power. When the stolen powers of DC’s metahumans were restored, many heroes got their usual abilities back. However, some, like Barry Allen, remained powerless, while traditionally non-powered characters gained new abilities. Hence, Lois is likely part of the latter group, owing her newfound powers to the fallout ofAbsolute Power.
