Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 4.Tyler Hoechlin’s time as Clark Kent is coming to an end, and it seems likeSuperman & Loisis giving that a whole other meaning, as the show has presented the perfect way for Clark to stop being the Man of Steel. I was sad to hear aboutSuperman & Loisseason 4 being the show’s final season, but I’m glad to say that if the popularDCseries is meant to go out, then it is going out swinging. With four episodes out so far,Superman & Lois' final season keeps getting better.
“The Death of Superman,” one of DC Comics' most emotional stories, was adapted at the start of season 4. While I knew that Hoechlin’s Man of Steel was always going to come back, the show did a great job of making his death feel impactful.Superman & Lois' castmanaged to shine during the time Clark Kent was dead, with multiple characters stepping up in Superman’s absence. While Hoechlin’s Clark has now come back to life, the show did so with a shocking twist, and I now believe that the live-action Superman actor might also ditch his suit in-universe.

Superman & Lois Season 4 Just Set Up The Perfect Justification For Superman Replacements
The Man Of Steel Is Not The Same As Before
Superman could only come back to life in the DC series due to a major sacrifice. After receiving General Sam Lane’s heart, which had been injected with a serum containing Superman’s blood, Clark wakes up. However, Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel might never be the same.Superman & Loisseason 4, episode 4, showed how the hero is getting used to his new condition. The main question that I had about Superman’s resurrection was related to how Lane’s heart could impact him, as I thoughtSuperman could perhaps be rendered human at some pointafter the transplant.
I Can’t Believe How Quickly Superman & Lois Just Undid That Huge Twist
Superman & Lois season 4 continues to present shocking events, and the DC series has already undone its biggest twist, setting up a major mystery.
So far, the Man of Steel is not powerless, but my theory could still come to pass by the end of the DC series. Still, Clark Kent is having to face a new reality. Despite having Kal-El’s blood, Lane’s heart is still that of a human, and sothe Man of Steel is not as powerful as he was before. It was surprising to see Clark fall out of the sky while flying with Jonathan and be able to feel the effects of the wine when drinking with Lois. I’m convinced that Superman’s condition could lead to him being replaced.

Superman & Lois Has Been Teasing Superman’s Replacement Story For A Long Time
Superboy Has Developed Over The Seasons
The idea of Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent being replaced inSuperman & Loisis not new. After all, the DC series has been setting up one of his sons to become a superhero since season 1. Alex Garfin’s Jordan Kent has been training for quite some time to become a worthy hero in his own right. The character has saved the day before, even helping Clark when he lost his powers momentarily. As one of Superman’s sons, it alwaysfelt natural that Clark would train Jordan to be his successor.

Jordan Kent
I have enjoyed seeing how Jordan has developed throughout the seasons, slowly discovering new powers and training to follow in Clark’s footsteps. That said, there have been a few missteps along the way. One of the biggest was how Jordan, at one point, seemed to be more interested in getting attention for his superhero exploits than actually saving people, straying from Superman’s ideals. Still,Jordan has always been thought of as Clark’s replacementin the future of this version of Superman, making that a core aspect of the show, though season 4 ups the stakes due to Clark’s condition.
Superman & Lois Ending With Clark’s Sons Taking Over As Superheroes Seems Inevitable
The Man Of Steel’s Legacy Will Go On
Superman & Loisseason 4 finally did something that I have been waiting to see since Jordan Elsass was the actor playing Jonathan Kent. Now being played by Michael Bishop, Jon finally develops powers in the final season’s third episode. Much like how Jordan seems to believe that his brother is the best choice to serve as Superman’s successor, I also share that thought.Jonathan Kent is more similar to Clarkin his way of thinking and acting, with the character already getting all of Superman’s powers — and being good with them — at once.
John Henry Irons — Steel — and Natalie Irons — Starlight — could also step up to keep Earth safe alongside Jonathan and Jordan if Superman is to be replaced.

I don’t thinkthe timing for Jonathan to get his powers could be any better. Superman’s condition, with his new heart making his powers weaker than they were, sets the stage for both Jonathan and Jordan to step up and act as their father’s replacements. I feel likeSuperman & Loisseason 4 is going to pay off Jordan’s long training and the show’s family theme by having Clark Kent either be powerless by the end of the series, with his sons taking over, or Superman being less powerful and having the help of Jonathan and Jordan.
