Summary

Storm’snext series of adventures could be going in a spooky direction. Storm’s storylines tend to go in a more sci-fi route. Not only is there a science to theX-Menfranchise as a whole, but also because hermore recent stories as the Regent of Marsare deeply rooted in science fiction. It’s rare to see Storm’s storylines branch outside other genres.

That changes soon, judging from a recent post by artistMateus Manhaninion X. The post unveils the cover art that Manhanini created forStorm#2 by Murewa Ayodele and Lucas Werneck. The art in question can be found below. The issue itself is currently scheduled to be released on August 04, 2025.

The cover art showcases the realGoddess of Thunder (according to Thor)being trapped underwater in some sort of glass casing, encased with serpents, spiders, and centipedes. The atmosphere is uncharacteristically supernatural, hinting at what kind of stories await Storm in her ongoing series, especially when solicit summaries tease the return of Doctor Voodoo.

TheStormsolo series is set to debut on shelves on July 23, 2025. The second issue, due a month later, has a solicitation summary that teases the following:

STORM is dying! An unknown form of radiation poisoning from the OKLAHOMA INCIDENT has turned her cells into ticking time bombs. As her final hours count down, will she find a cure for her illness at NIGHT NURSE’s new super-hero hospital, or will it require enchantments from DOCTOR VOODOO to save her life?

Readers will have to wait until the first issue arrives to better understand the nature of this Oklahoma incident that’s been alluded to in the synopsis, but it’s evident that Storm is sick. Whatever is killing her is going to demand the resources of either Night Nurse’s hospital for superheroes, or other types of enhancements from Doctor Voodoo to save her life.

For those not familiar with the name Doctor Voodoo, it refers to one Jericho Drumm, who originally went under the name Brother Voodoo. His Doctor title was added oncehis mastery of the arts and sorcery earned him the position of Sorcerer Supreme. He succeededDoctor Strange in the role during Brian Michael Bendis’New Avengers, back when Stephen was stripped of his position.Doctor Voodoo is a great pickto guide Storm through her supernatural ordeal, but can she handle the darkness that this path could entail?

Can Storm Handle the Supernatural?

Is This a Journey She Could Come Back From?

Delving into the supernatural for Storm seems to set up the character heading into the horror genre, which could make for something different for the Omega-level mutant. At the same time, in more ways than one, it takes Storm out of her element (no pun intended). Being blindsided by something new can throw off even an Omega-level mutant. There’s no guarantee that Storm could come back from this one, not alone at least. Whether it’s Night Nurse or Doctor Voodoo’s doing,Stormwill need all the help she needs to make it out alive.
