As Marvel’sEwoksseries makes clear, the Ewoks have gods of light and of darkness. The “Golden One” was a deity that brought light to the moon, banishing the darkness and allowing the Ewoks to thrive. The Golden One made a deal with the god of darkness, the Adversary, and they divided the moon into equal parts to create a cycle of night and day. InReturn of the Jedi, the Ewoks mistook C-3PO as the Golden One, andsome Ewoks believed he brought the rebels to chase away the Empire and take back the moon from the Adversary.

When 4-LOM arrives claiming to be an emissary to the Adversary, Logray insists they cannot question the will of the “Great Ones.” Others, however, express that their hospitality will be the end of them.

AfterReturn of the Jedi,Bright Tree Village was split over how to handle further intrusions by outsiders. The elder shaman, Logray, believed that the deal between the Golden One and the Adversary was broken when the empire invaded and occupied Endor, as the darkness overstepped, taking more than the deal allowed. When 4-LOM arrives claiming to be an emissary to the Adversary, Logray insists they cannot question the will of the “Great Ones.” Others, however, express that their hospitality will be the end of them.
