Summary

Star Warsjust dropped an Easter egg connected toCal KestisandJedi: Fallen Orderin the last place I would have expected. A Jedi survivor of Order 66, the journey of Cal Kestis can be found in the popular and canonicalFallen OrderandSurvivorvideo games from EA. However, I certainly didn’t expect to see any connections to the beloved Imperial Era during the age of the High Republic, much less in an animated kids' series.

Having just released its second season on Disney+,Young Jedi Adventuresis back with all-new adventuresstarring the trio of High Republic younglings Kai, Lys, and Nubs. This includesYoung Jedi Adventuresseason 2, episode 4 which sees young Nubs discovering the ancient lightsaber of Barabo, a legendary Jedi Master who received his very own mural depicting one of his greatest battles. However, this battle shares a surprising connection to now other than Cal Kestis and his own adventures which won’t take place for another 200 years in the expansiveStar Warstimeline.

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows

What’s the best way to watch Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.

Jedi Master Barabo Is Fighting A Very Familiar Creature

A Chirodactyl (First Seen in Jedi: Fallen Order)

On the mural that Nubs discovers within an old Jedi temple, Barabo is depicted fighting none other than a chirodactyl which had been terrorizing a nearby town before the Jedi Master arrived and drove it away with his lightsaber. Also known as “Dathomirian bats”, chirodactyls are native to the planetDathomir, the homeworld of Darth Maul and the Nightsisters.Chirodactyls also made theirStar Warsdebut inJedi: Fallen Order, particularly a very rather large female named Gorgara.

InFallen Order, Cal Kesits visits Dathomir and faces Gorgara herself, resulting in one of the game’s more memorable boss fight sequences as the young Jedi attempts to hang for dear life when she takes to the skies above the world rich in the power of the dark side. To that end,it was certainly surprising to see a chirodactyl in this new episode ofYoung Jedi Adventures, now serving as the species' only other appearance outsideFallen Orderand Cal’s encounter with Gorgara.

This Really Was The Last Place I Expected A Fallen Order Easter Egg

A Reference For Diehard Star Wars Fans and Parents

Considering the factYoung Jedi Adventuresis targeted at a much younger demographic than mostStar Warsprojects, there are probably very few preschool and grade schoolers who were able to pick up on this Cal Kestis/Fallen OrderEaster egg.Instead, it seems pretty clear that this reference was meant for the most diehardStar Warsfans and parents watching alongside their children. As such, it’s a very cool Easter egg that enriches theStar Warsviewing experience (while still occurring in the last place I would have expected).
