The Sims 4is far from being free of bugs, even a decade after its initial release. While theHigh School Yearsexpansion pack hasn’t been out for as long as the base game, it seems to be plagued by more bugs than other packs. What is perhaps the most annoying issue of the pack has finally received a fix, but it’s such an unusual glitch that it’s rather funny it existed in the first place.

The Sims 4 High School Yearsadded the ability to follow teenage Sims to high school and control them during the school day the same way that some careers are active, such as doctor and detective. Unfortunately,The Sims 4is prone to bugs and glitchesin general, and that means the high school experience isn’t as smooth as it could be. In some cases, entire events end up canceled depending on the status of the school’s principal, which could be incredibly frustrating.

Prom Is Back On For Sims In High School

Even If Mei Prescott Isn’t Present

A recent update toThe Sims 4finally addressed the issue where a prom would be canceled if Mei Prescott, the default principal inHigh School Years, was dead. That wasn’t even the only circumstance that could stop prom, asMei deciding to quit being the principal would also cancel the event.

To make matters more frustrating, it wasn’t as if the school didn’t hold prom for a year for the sake of remembering the former principal or anything like that. Proms would be stopped indefinitely. Plus, the reason why proms stopped being held wouldn’t be given either, leading to players wondering what happened to cause the bug.

10 Features The Sims 5 Desperately Needs At Launch

When the Sims 4 launched, there were complaints about absent features. Here’s what the Sims 5 needs to include to avoid repeating that situation.

Although annoying, that might not be the worst issue that wasrecently fixed inHigh School Years,as another bug was resolved alongside the prom problem.Sims in high school should no longer randomly stop taking examsand leaving the classroom, which would result in Sims getting detention. Since exams and prom might be the most iconic parts of high school, it’ll be nice to have them hopefully work as intended. Now, if only more of the bugs this pack has would be fixed next, such as teens not being able to post on Social Bunny, or the boba tea place not having anybody working at the counter.

Plenty Of Other Small Issues Have Been Fixed Across Packs

The Extensive Laundry List

Other issues that EA addressed in the same patch include quite a few more that primarily happened to teen Sims, such as being promoted at work counting towards the goal-oriented aspiration, or that teen Sims working as lifeguards are now able to take vacation days.

Child Sims also got a bit of a break in this patch, and they’re now able to quit after-school activities, which was another bug that was both frustrating and a bit funny in the idea that some unknown entity in the game made kids continue after-school activities. At least these issues were less confusing than suddenly not having a prom ever again.

The Sims 4 Is Still Bug Ridden

And Will Likely Stay That Way

Unfortunately, the forums are still filled with recent bug reports, showing that not every single issue has been addressed in a single patch, which is - of course - expected. However, a new expansion has been revealed, and it looks like it’ll arrive in time for Halloween, which fits its theme of life and death.

While it’s not reasonable to expect that every issue will be fixed before the arrival of a new expansion, and at this point, it seems more likely that The Sims 4 will never be completely bug free, hopefully, the new pack won’t come with as many problems as previous packs.

10 Things That Make No Sense In The Sims 4

It’s hard to find a game where every little detail makes sense, but at least these things that don’t make sense in The Sims 4 tend to provide humor.

No variation ofThe Simshas been perfect, and its flaws are often part of its charm, when they aren’t game-breaking, at least. Although a few ofHigh School Years’bigger issues have been resolved, along with problems from several other expansions, lingering bugs continue to be a steady source of headaches forThe Sims 4players who want to experience the content they purchased to the fullest.
