Why Cobel Wants To Talk To Mark’s Innie In Severance Season 2 Episode 9’s Ending
Cobel Seems To Have Finally Switched Sides
Almost throughoutSeveranceseason 2’s episode 9, Mark cannot help but suspect whether Cobel wants to help them. His suspicion makes sense given how Cobel was raised by Lumon. However, Mark eventually gives in when Cobel reveals that Gemma might still be alive if his innie has not finished processing the Cold Harbor file. Realizing that only a former insider like Cobel can help them rescue Gemma, Mark agrees to take her advice.
Severance: Kier Eagan’s 9 Core Principles Explained
Kier Eagan’s 9 principles keep showing up in Severance, raising intriguing questions about what they mean and how they impact the show’s characters.
InSeveranceseason 2 episode 9’s final shot, Mark enters a cabin in the Ramona Birthing Retreat and transitions into his innie. To his surprise, he finds Cobel waiting for him, suggesting that Cobel will attempt to convince him to help them get Gemma out of Lumon. After being betrayed and abandoned by Lumon,Cobel finally seems to have realized how the company cares little about anyone’s well-being. However, since she cannot enter the Lumon building again, there isn’t much she can do to directly help Mark. Therefore, she seemingly hopes to convince Mark’s innie to help them save Gemma.

Miss Huang’s Future In Lumon Explained: Why Milchick Asks Her To Break Her Game
Miss Huang Has Completed Her Fellowship
Milchick announces the completion of Miss Huang’s Wintertide Fellowship, which was supposed to determine her future in Lumon. Just like Cobel became a full-time Lumon worker after she completed her fellowship with Lumon, Huang seemingly gets to do the same. Milchick confirms thatshe will be transferred to the Gunnel Eagan Empathy Center, where she will continue her employment with Lumon. Although Miss Huang works hard to complete her fellowship, she feels sad about her transfer because it means she will have to move away from her parents.
The totem-smashing process not only serves as a symbol to mark the end of Huang’s childhood but is also a part of Lumon’s indoctrination process to strip away one’s identity and make them a part of the Kier-worshipping cult.

Her tragic future in Lumon highlights how the company forces many minors into working by disguising child labor as an opportunity for career growth. Cobel, too, went through something similar when she was much younger. Milchick also makes her realize the seriousness of her role in Lumon by making her smash her beloved game. The totem-smashing process not only serves as a symbol to mark the end of Huang’s childhood but is also a part of Lumon’s indoctrination process to strip away one’s identity and make them a part of the Kier-worshipping cult.
What Jame Eagan Means When He Says He Sees Kier In Helly
Jame Eagan Has Said The Same To Helly & Harmony
InSeveranceseason 2 episode 9’s final arc, Jame Eagan sneaks onto Lumon’s severed floor and seemingly tries to confront Helly. However, the more he talks to her, the more it becomes evident that he wishes his daughter was more like her. He claims that he once saw Kier in Helena, but now struggles to see the same. His dissatisfaction with his daughter is also shown in the episode’s opening moments when he looks at her with disappointment and claims he wishes she ate her eggs raw like Kier.
Helly’s rebelliousness and will to carve her path and identity seem to remind Jame Eagan of Kier, suggesting that he would prefer having her as his heir instead of Helena. Since Helena is already jealous of her innie, she will grow even more envious of Helly if she learns about how her father sees her. This could not only further exacerbate Helena and her father’s already tense relationship but also complicate Helly’s relationship with Mark.

Why Gemma’s Fate Depends On Cold Harbor’s Completion
Cobel Claims “The Numbers Are Your Wife”
Cobel tells Mark that the numbers from the MDR files are his wife, suggesting that Gemma’s fate has always depended on Mark’s MDR work. This makes sense sinceSeveranceseason 2’s episode 7established that the name of each room on the testing floor corresponded with the name of a file Mark had previously worked on. Story developments from episode 7 have seemingly established that Mark was “creating” Gemma’s individual innies by working on the files in the MDR department.
Severance has revealed the names of the following testing floor rooms so far:
Owing to this, it is hard not to believe thatthe completion of Cold Harbor will also create another innie for Gemma, who will get activated after Gemma enters the Cold Harbor room on the testing floor. Cobel keeps implying that Gemma would only be alive if Mark’s innie has not completed the Cold Harbor file. Could this mean that once Lumon has tested the final room on Gemma, they will kill her instead of setting her free?Severanceseason 2’s finale will likely provide more answers.
Why Burt Makes Irving Leave The Town Of Kier

He only drove people to Lumon but always knew that the company was doing something wrong. He feels guilty because he served as a facilitator of Lumon’s wrongdoings. Irving empathizes with him and does not judge him for his past. He also realizes that by telling him about his past association with Lumon, Burt is risking his life. Irv hopes to explore his relationship with Burt in the outside world, believing they can potentially share the same relationship as their innies. However, to his dismay, Burt encourages him to leave, realizing that Lumon knows about his covert operation against them. Although Irv tries to convince him to exit the Town of Kier with him, Burt declines the offer to stay behind with his partner, Fields.
Dylan’s Decision To Resign Explained
Dylan Loses His Sense Of Purpose At Lumon
Like other MDR workers, Dylan was once primarily driven by the perks Lumon offered to all high-performing employees. However, his world was shattered when the Overtime Contingency incident made him realize he had a family outside the Lumon office. To keep him driven, Milchick realized that he would have to make him meet his wife, Gretchen. Soon after meeting his outie’s wife, Dylan found a new sense of purpose to remain loyal to Lumon. His occasional meetings with Gretchen became the highlight of his life as he gradually fell for her.
Gretchen, too, made him feel hopeful when she kissed him. Unfortunately, Dylan’s outie was not pleased when Gretchen told him that she had kissed his innie. As a result, Gretchen decided to discontinue the meetings. With this, the only thing that drove Dylan to work for Lumon afterSeveranceseason 1’s events was taken away from him. Therefore, he decided to end his existence by writing a resignation letter. Whether his resignation will be granted inSeveranceseason 2’s finale will depend entirely on his outie.
