The Perpetuity Wing is among the most important locations inSeverance. The Apple TV+ series debuted in 2022 and garnered critical acclaim for its many strengths, including its effective use of mystery box storytelling. There are plenty of mysteries to explore withSeverance’s Innies and Outies, which are the terms used to describe what happens to the Lumon Industries employees who undergo the severance procedure. Once the mind is severed, an individual only remembers their work life when they are at work and only remembers their outside life when they are not at work.
Many members ofSeverance’s cast of characters, includingMark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro), are severed and work in Lumon’s Macrodata Refinement Department. As such, they are restricted to the severed floor, which is overseen bySeverance’s Harmony Cobel. The Innies' world is mostly restricted to the office where they work, with the Perpetuity Wing being one of their only connections to the larger world.

The Perpetuity Wing Is A Museum On Lumon’s Severed Floor In Severance
It Celebrates The History Of Lumon And The Eagans
The history of Lumon and of the Eagan family is on display in the Perpetuity Wing. It serves as a museum that severed employees can visit so they can learn about the history of the company they work for, with particular emphasis on thecompany’s founder, Kier Eagan, and his descendants.Irving has a particular reverence for the Perpetuity Wing, as he finds it to be inspiring, and its three exhibits give him a sense of purpose and deepens the devotion he feels toward Lumon.
The Perpetuity Wing’s 3 Exhibits Explained
Hall of CEOs
The Hall of CEOs features wax figures of every Lumon CEO, from Kier Eagan to the company’s current CEO, James Eagan. Each wax figure has a plaque commemorating when each CEO was born and when they passed away, along with the length of their CEO tenure. There are quotes from some of the CEOs plastered around the exhibit, including Kier’s quote of"The remembered man does not decay"and James' quote"History lives in us, whether we learn it, or not.“Each wax figure also comes with a recording where they share their story and values.
Lumon Legacy of Joy
The Lumon Legacy of Joy is a wall filled with black and white pictures of smiles. Irving claims that each of the smiles are from real people in the outside world that Lumon Industries has helped. The pictures do not stay the same, asIrving explains to Helly that the pictures are regularly rotated alongto show the countless people that Lumon benefits.
Kier Eagan Replica House
The third and final exhibit in the Perpetuity Wing isa full-size replica of the home where Kier lived. No expense has been spared as the home has been immaculately recreated, not only via the structure, but through the details inside, even including where Kier kept his slippers. There is also a sign on Kier’s bed that warns against sitting on it.
Why The Perpetuity Wing Is So Important In Severance
It Is Important For The Characters And For Manipulating Severed Employees
When Helly is struggling to be motivated and to adjust to the life of an Innie, Irving suggests that he, Mark, and Dylan take her to the Perpetuity Wing. Irving believes that the Perpetuity Wing will provide Helly with the meaning she craves and inspire her. Dylan tries to make the trip to the Perpetuity Wing a better experience for Helly by giving her an Eagan Bingo sheet. When Irving sees Mark’s Eagan Bingo sheet and gets upset, Helly uses this opportunity to run away in an ultimately failed attempt to escape.
Severance’s Helena Eagan Identity Twist Explained
Apple TV+’s Severance season 1 ends with a bombshell revelation that places Helena Eagan at the center of the unfurling Lumon maelstrom.
The Perpetuity Wing returns later inSeveranceseason 1 during the Waffle Partyperk that Dylan earns. This involves going to the Kier Eagan replica house after work hours and eating a plate of waffles. This is followed by donning a Kier mask and sitting on Kier’s bed while four masked individuals dance erotically around the bed. Dylan leaves the Waffle Party during the dance so he can initiate the Overtime Contingency Protocol and wake up Mark, Helly, and Irving’s Innies on the outside duringSeveranceseason 1’s ending.

Each mask represents one of the Four Tempers that Kier Eagan claimed all humans possess–woe, frolic, dread, and malice.
While these are the important events that occur in the Perpetuity Wing inSeveranceseason 1,the museum’s overarching importance is in how it further controls Lumon’s narrative. It depicts the entire Eagan family, particularly Kier, as practically religious figures to be worshiped. For severed employees like Irving, it gives them a sense of history and purpose that they are lacking due to their Innies having no past outside Lumon. The Perpetuity Wing offers the only information Lumon wants its severed employees to know about the company, its founder, and the long line of CEOS inSeverance.
