“I was really blown away that we were gonna have the World Between Worlds. It was actually one of the only things that we filmed that we couldn’t actually see, we didn’t shoot that on the Volume, so to watch it myself afterwards and see how they brought it out from the animation… That was one of the coolest things.

And that swipe that he does, and turns into Clone Wars? I just thought that was so brilliant, because you got to see Anakin in a different garb at that time, and Ahsoka as well, and for fans of the animation it was so cool to see that brought out, and also startling to recognize just how young she was. But for the people who didn’t know, it was a wonderful introduction to their history, and it said so much in such a small moment about everything that has brought her to this moment, where is a little more stoic and reserved and pulled-back, having gone through some trauma. It was just really beautiful to have that whole arc expressed, to see it.”

Ahsoka’s World Between Worlds Was A Perfect Primer On The Character

Rosario Dawson’s explanation for why the World Between Worlds wasn’t fan service is absolutely right.Ahsoka has a very long history throughoutThe Clone Wars, and her past experiences with Anakin Skywalker were a major part of her character in theAhsokashow. The trouble is, most people haven’t seenThe Clone Wars, so viewers who weren’t familiar with it would have lost out on a major part ofAhsoka. The World Between Worlds solved that issue by giving new viewers just enough of a glimpse into Anakin and Ahsoka’s relationship that they wouldn’t be lost.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Conceived by the will of the Force itself, Anakin Skywalker was the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring the Force into balance. Anakin struggled to balance competing attachments to the Jedi Order and his wife Padmé Amidala, and ultimately fell to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader. For years he served as Palpatine’s right hand man, but he was ultimately redeemed by the faith of his son, Luke Skywalker. Now a Force Ghost, Anakin continues to act as an agent of balance.

Ahsoka Tano

The apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano was an accomplished Padawan who served during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka left the Jedi after she became disillusioned with the Jedi Council, but returned to serve in the Siege of Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars. She survived Order 66, becoming a Rebel agent during the Dark Times of the Empire’s reign, and her adventures continue in the New Republic era. Ahsoka was last seen stranded in a distant galaxy, having failed to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return.

Ahsoka’s World Between Worlds scenes really effectively conveyed the foundation for all the emotional development and growth Ahsoka went through in the show. In just a few minutes, it showed audiences that Ahsoka was Anakin’s Padawan in the Clone Wars, that Ahsoka still felt the trauma of being a child during that massive war, and that she was still angry at Anakin for falling to the dark side.It was a very efficient storytelling device, and the World Between Worlds was quite possibly the most natural way to revisit so many different things thatAhsokawas built upon.
