The recently announcedPlayStation 5 ProandPlayStation 530th anniversary bundle briefly went on pre-sale this morning, but sold out within a matter of moments. The bundle included a PlayStation 5 Pro console or a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console in a limited-edition color, mirroring the PlayStation 1 in all of its former glory.
The anniversary bundle became available for pre-purchase earlier today for $999.99 USD. However,Eurogamerreports thatthe bundles sold out within seconds of being listed.Only 12,300 units were available for pre-order, and they were immediately snatched up by the masses.

ThePS5 30th Anniversary bundlealso included a DualSense wireless and Edge wireless controller, a controller charging station, a stand, and a console cover for a disc drive. More so, there was a PS-controller-style cable connector housing, four cable ties in the shape of the PS logo, a sticker, a paperclip, and one of 30 possible poster designs to collect. However,if any fans were hoping to get their hands on any of these goodies, they’re out of luck unless they want to spend a pretty penny down the line.
Why It Matters That The PS5 Bundles Sold Out Instantly
Resale Prices Will Likely Skyrocket
In 2014, Sony announced the release of the 20th Anniversary PS4 via thePlayStation Blog. Like the 30th anniversary consoles, the special-edition PS4 sold 12,300 copies, each one specially numbered. Similar to its PS5 sibling, the special PS4 sold out at a rapid pace. At launch, the special-edition console sold for $500 USD, and according toPrice Charting, a new unopened version of the console is now worth $1600.
This is an incredible10 times more than how much regular PS4s are currently selling for,and the PlayStation 5 Anniversary Bundle will likely follow suit. The copies that sold today will likely be worth much more than regular PS5 editions another 10 years down the line.

Our Take On The Instantly Selling Out PS5 Bundles
It Doesn’t Necessarily Indicate Demand
When the PS5 Pro was announced, there was a general outcry over itsextremely high price tag of $700. Many didn’t think the console would sell, sinceit doesn’t offer much in terms of new content or features for the typical consumer. The fact that the PS5 bundle sold out so quickly could indicate that people are actually interested in it, but that may not be the case in this particular instance.
The PS5 Pro and these bundles aren’t meant for the typical consumer. Based on similar sell-outs in the past, it’s very possible large percentage of the 12,300 bundles sold today could have beenpurchased with the intent to resell when enough time has passed.I also wouldn’t be surprised to see quite a few of the consoles up for resale over the next few days, priced much higher than the bundle’s initial cost.

The PlayStation 5 Prowill be released on July 08, 2025, and the console will cost a whopping $700 as an upgraded, more powerful version of the current PS5. Though the dollar signs flew today with the release of these bundles, only time will tell if the average consumer is willing to dish out the cash for thePlayStation 5 Prowhen it launches later this year.
