A New Franchise Ongoing Series Arrives inPower Rangers Prime#1
Available Everywhere August 24, 2025
“Darkest Hour” was a fitting finalefor the comic franchise’s eight-year run, but it is by no means the end of BOOM! Studios' expansion of thePower Rangersuniverse.Melissa Flores - the mastermind behind the “Darkest Hour” finale - promises in the solicitation for the new series that she and the creative team are"bringing the comics into a reimagined world!“suggests thatPrimecould serve as a spiritual sequel of sorts to theMighty Morphin Power Rangerscomics, even without being a direct sequel to them. Speaking of, the solicitation summary forPower Rangers Primesays the following:
Angel Grove University students face a difficult choice after crossing paths with a fugitive straight out of legend. The consequences for hiding her are dire…but her existence may not stay secret for long.

In the wake ofDarkest Hour, prepare yourself for a bold new era and a brand new story unlike anything that’s come before! A perfect “Day One” jumping on point for new readers and old fans alike!
Spiritual sequel or not,it certainly promises to expand on the lore of the franchise as a whole, including the original television show. Just the idea of an Angel Grove University spinning out of the famous town from the original TV show already adds something new to the franchise. What’s most enticing is the idea of the story featuring a"fugitive straight out of legend.“Since the variants and preview panels feature a redesign of the Red Ranger fromPower Rangers Samurai, one must wonder if the famed Lauren Shiba - one of the TV show’s first female Red Rangers - is the legend who is alluded to.

Power Rangers’Relaunch Opens the Door for New Readers
Preview Panels by Michael Yg below
Another promising element about this new relaunch is that it serves as the best possible entry point for fans who have been tempted to dive into the comics, but were too trepidatious to do so during theMighty Morphin Power Rangersrun. Admittedly, trying to dive in the middle of a series with eight years' worth of backstory to catch up on can sound intimidating from an outsider’s perspective. That’s why a new story featuring a new protagonist is a great way to finally convince both new and old fans ofPower Rangersto pick up a comic.
Power Rangers Prime#1will be available from BOOM! Studios starting November 14.
