Pokémon Horizonsbegan in Japan in 2023, and debuted in English on Netflix on July 30, 2025. The series is the first mainline anime in the franchise to focus on a protagonist other than Ash Ketchum, and radically shook up what thePokémonanime could be. With a strong on-going storyline surroundinga mysterious Ancient Adventurer and his legendary Pokémon, the Six Heroes,Pokémon Horizonshas been making waves with its first season. Pokémon Horizons Season 2 Promises Adventure in Paldea
Liko, Roy, and Dot Will Explore Paldea in Their Training
The second season ofPokémon Horizons, entitled “The Search for Laqua,” will initially focus on Liko, Roy, and Dot enrolling in Naranja Academy to gain experience with Terastallizing, a mysterious transformation that can enhance the power of Pokémon. The trio will be traveling the Paldea region, as seen in thePokémon ScarletandVioletvideo games, as part of their training, challenging Gym Leaders and taking tests of their skills. In that sense,Pokémon Horizons' second season will be a lot like the Ash Ketchum days, only with this new cast of characters.
Theeponymous “Laqua” from the title is a mysterious landsaid to be a paradise, which the Ancient Adventurer Lucius discovered a long time ago. Liko and Roy have become determined to bring Terapagos to Laqua, and in order to do so, have been collecting the Six Heroes, Lucius’s former Pokémon. While the Terastal training will be a break from the main plot, the second season will eventually see Liko, Roy, and the Rising Volt Tacklers setting sail once again in order to gather up the three remaining members of the Six Heroes–including the powerful Black Rayquaza.
Season 2 ofPokémon Horizonsis still airing in Japan, but what’s been shown there so far has been exciting. Fans can expect to see some of their favorite characters fromScarletandVioletmaking an appearance, including popular figures like Penny,Nemona, and the Elite Four. Even characters from the DLC will be appearing, such as Briar, Perrin, and Carmine. The season’s focus on Paldea will give fans a chance to see many new Pokémon animated for the first time as well.
Liko, Roy, and Dot will continue to grow as trainers and become even more compelling protagonists, while the main mystery of the series is slowly explored. Fans have a lot to look forward to in the second season ofPokémon Horizons, and the new batch of episodes due on November 22nd should help tide fans over until season 2 can begin properly.
