In the first few months of 2025, fans are expecting some big updates from the gaming industry - and, according to a reliable source, Sony is next in line to announce upcoming plans for thePlayStation 5. Sony’s main competitors in the industry, Nintendo and Microsoft, have already made major announcements in January, with the official reveal of the Switch 2 and an Xbox Developer Direct showing off several highly anticipated games, respectively, so it remains to be seen what Sony has in store for this year.

NateTheHate2 is generally regarded as a reliable source, most notable for recently having leaked the January 16 reveal date for the Switch 2 ahead of time, but at the time of writing, Sony has yet to make any official announcements regarding an upcoming State of Play.

Notably,it’s not the first time NateTheHate2 has leaked the possibility of a February State of Play, having predicted iton Xas far back as January 16 - the same day he was proven to be correct about the Switch 2. So far, there’s little information regarding what will be shown in a potential State of Play, but Sony does have several games already announced that could receive updates, likeGhosts of Yotei,Death Stranding 2: On The Beach,Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, orMarvel’s Wolverine.
However, while there are plenty of in-development games for Sony to update PlayStation fans on, the potential for entirely new announcements may suffer fromSony’s cancelation of several live-service titles.
