A petition was started yesterday byDisney Dreamlight Valleyfans asking Gameloft to stop (allegedly) banning accounts that use multiplayer, and it has amassed over 1300 signatures in less than 24 hours. The multiplayer functionality inDreamlight Valleywas added nearly a year and a half ago and features minimal online interaction with other players, like entering the Valley owner’s home, buying things from Scrooge’s store, picking up dropped items, and a few more activities.

Recentanecdotal reports suggest that some players are being banned after using the multiplayer function in the game, leading to a public outcry from the community. The petition to stop multiplayer bans was started yesterday by Cassandra Valenzuela onChange.org, asking Gameloft to stop penalizing players for using an official feature implemented in the game.

The petition notes that restricting players from using aDDVfeature that’s an essential part of the game is unfair to the community, stating:

It is imperative to note that Disney Dreamlight Valley is a multiplayer game intended for interactions and fun with friends. By banning us for opting for the multiplayer portal, the game is restricting us from experiencing its full potential.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Discord Mods Respond To Alleged Multiplayer Ban Issue

Reassures Fans That The Bans Are Nothing To Be Concerned About

According to one Discord mod, the rumors regarding bans are “scare tactics or false information to scare people out of playing multiplayer,” andbans always begin with a warning and are strictly “reserved for players who have not been following the rules.“The mod reminds players not to cheat, not to visit players who do, and to be careful of whom they let into their Valleys.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s latest update Tales of Argabah has arrived and it’s brought much more to the Valley than two beloved characters.

Another mod for the Discord channel confirms what the former said. According to this second mod, “legitimate"players who follow the rules and “don’t violate the EULA” (the End-User License Agreement) don’t have anything to worry about. The mod states that some players are spreading misinformation, saying:

“There are some folks spreading scary rumors at the moment, making it sound like just using multiplayer will get you in trouble, but that is simply not the case.”

Both mods encourage any players who feel they have received unwarranted warnings to reach out to Gameloft support with their concerns. The first also tells anyone who sees anything suspicious or out of the ordinary in a Valley they visit toreport the player and leave right away.

Fans Aren’t Reassured By Disney Dreamlight Valley Discord Mods' Words

The Petition Is A Sign That The Community Is Concerned

In the time between when I started writing this article and now, the petition has gained an additional 100 signatures. Despite the assurances of Gameloft, many players are stillconcerned that they might get an unwarranted ban if they use the multiplayer features. One Discord user responded to the message from the mods, voicing their discomfort with the situation. They mention trying to read the EULA but stopping halfway through, which is probably more than most players read.

The player seems to echo many fans' sentiments, saying that they’re afraid they will accidentally get themselves banned despite not doing anything wrong. Although Gameloft states there’s nothing to worry about for players who aren’t doing anything wrong, manyDisney Dreamlight Valleyfans are opting to stop using multiplayer until they feel that it’s safe to do so.

Editor’s Note:

Since writing, the petition referenced in the article reached 1,710 signatures but has since been deleted. As Mods state via Discord,“Disseminating misinformation about the reasons for potential bans, or promoting boycotts or petitions among server members, is inconsistent with server rules and may result in moderation action.”
