…I guess they’ll start filming season 3 pretty soon, and I think they’re doing - I think it’s called the Alabasta story arc. I think it’s gonna take two seasons. But what I’ve seen of the design, drawings, and when I was there, there’s some really fun stuff being shot there at the moment.

What Regan’s Reveal Means For One Piece’s Live-Action Future

Netflix Has Faith In The Adaptation’s Success

WhileNetflix hasn’t officially renewed the manga adaptation for season 3, Drum Island Arc, where season 2 will end, leads into the Alabasta Arc, which finishes storylines that will be introduced in season 2. It makes sense not only for the renewal to happen, but also for everything to be filmed back-to-back, ensuring a smooth transition between seasons. This means thecast ofOne Piecewill be bringing the Straw Hats to life for up to 16 more episodes, covering through the second Saga of the source material.

One Piece Season 2’s Huge Arabasta Decision Means This Fan-Favorite Straw Hat Will Be Even More Important In Netflix’s Show

One Piece season 2 has made an important decision regarding Arabata, and it suggests that one of the Straw Hats will be even more important now.

Regan’s confirmation also emphasizes how much detail there will be in the show when contrasted with the original story. Season 2’s arcs cover 59 chapters of the manga, while the Alabasta Arc is 63 chapters total. This means the pacing will be roughly the same for both seasons, making the live-action unlikely to skip any major details important to the overarching tale. SinceOne Pieceseason 1 endedby setting the stage for the first Grand Line story, it’s clear Netflix’s two-season strategy shows they have faith in the adaptation’s long-term success.

It Makes Sense Given Where The Story’s Going

SinceOne Pieceseason 2 is only covering around half the chapters associated with the first storyline in the Grand Line, it makes sense for an early season 3 renewal that will finish in Alabasta. While emphasizing Netflix’s confidence in the series,it also signifies the importance behind-the-scenes of ensuring the second Saga is covered in full.
