Summary

In theStarfielduniverse, perhaps no other aspect is as cool as the massive warships that players can encounter toward the late game.LegendaryStarfieldwarshipsare larger variations of typical ships, akin to the likes of the UC Sys Def’s ship, the UC Vigilance, or the Crimson Fleet’s Key. These legendary ship battles are fairly rare, with just three scattered across the Settled Systems in randomly generated locations.

These legendarywarships include the Va’ruun Shroudbearer, Spacer Scavenger Blattodea, and Ecliptic Battleship Camulus. Because of the random nature of where they spawn, it’s more than possible to play through the campaign, and multipleNew Game Plus runswithout actually running into one. As massive and cool as they are — there’s one major missing aspect of warships that turns out to be a huge wasted opportunity.

Starfield Needs To Let Players Board & Commandeer Warships

The Coolest Part Of The Game Doesn’t Exist Yet

Starfield’s shipbuilder is arguably the best and most interesting part of the game, with some players painstakingly putting together some pretty iconic ships, like the Millennium Falcon andcustom-made Borg Cube. That said, thebiggest major issue with the large Legendary warships in Starfield is the inability to board them or take them over.

Currently, it’s only possible to engage warships in space and destroy them for XP and Credits. While this does create a nice break in the core and side missions in the game, it undercuts what could be a pretty awesome experience, especially if one were able to take one to a spaceport and claim it for themselves.

Ship Building Could Be Even Better

InStarfield, it’s possible to commandeer other ships, and while committing grand theft spaceship may not be the most profitable endeavor in the game, that could change if the ship was a massive floating island. Currently, in the basevanilla game, there are size limitations that prevent players from building larger ships the size of warships. While there are workarounds, like amod that removes ship size limits, it’s not without its caveats.

For one, space stations are currently built to accommodate a certain size of ship; thus, landing on planets with an oversized custom ship often causes clipping into the environment, breaking immersion. Secondly, some players just don’t like using mods, and this locks out one of the cooler aspects of the game for a large proportion of players. However, solutions to this issue could be created, and the potential to fly around space in a hugeStarfieldwarship would make it worth the effort.
