Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2is the eagerly awaited sequel by Warhorse Studios, known for its focus on historical accuracy and deep immersion in 15th-century Bohemia. It’s a great game, but even well-made games can have some small problems. One issue comes from the game’s use of in-engine cutscenes. While these scenes help tell the story and highlight the game’s impressive visuals, they can sometimes break the sense of realism that the game aims for. Specifically, the way the game handles the main character, Henry’s, clothing can be awkward.

Players can easily switch between a few outfits outside of battle, but during some cutscenes, the game forces a specific outfit on Henry, ignoring whatever he was wearing before. It also neglects the need for a change in outfit when moving onto different scenarios. While these issues may seem small, and the developersavoided a common AAA sequel issue, this problem can still interrupt the immersion. Unfortunately, there’s no real solution currently in the game except for changing when the cutscene ends.

Cutscenes Don’t Care About Henry’s Fashion In KCD2

InKingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players can customize Henry’s appearance for different situations, usually creating three main outfits: one for sneaking around, one for making a good impression, and a heavy armor set for fighting. This lets players switch out whenever the gameplay requires them to do something different. However, the game’scutscenes often keep players in the same outfitas it funnels them to a bigger plotpoint, leading to a disconnect between what players can control and the story being told.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Is Such A Success, The Devs Apparently Made Their Money Back In A Single Day

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has debuted to instant commercial success, selling one million copies within just 24 hours of launch on 4 February.

A common problem occurs when the game puts Henry in situations where he needs to fight but doesn’t get a chance to put on his armor. While other characters seem ready for battle, Henry often appears under-dressed. This isn’t a major issue, since players can pause and change Henry’s outfit, butit really ruins the immersion when players have to stop immediately after a cutscenejust to change Henry’s clothes to match the outfit of everyone around him.

Another oddity is that Henry wears a helmet during scenes where he can see and hear perfectly, which doesn’t make sense. It would be more realisticif he could take the helmet off during cutscenes. It’s one of those issues where a game feels less realistic because it’s trying to be so realistic.

Henry Should Get More Chances To Change Clothes

There’s A Way For Developers To Fix This

It’s easy to get frustrated withKingdom Come: Deliverance 2because there’s a pretty easy fix for such a huge oversight. The problem is that Henry’s clothing doesn’t change during these scenes, leading to situations where he might be in battle without his armor or fully armored while having casual conversations. Thisfeels strange and takes away from the immersive experience. In many other games, players have a chance to prepare before important events, typically through a prompt like “Are you ready?”

This wouldlet Henry change his gear or clothing so that the next cutscene isn’t weirdor takes players out of the game. It would be great to have a way for players to change outfits in between cutscenes, and while that isn’t always a practical solution that can always happen, it’s practical enough that it would solve a lot of the cutscene issues.

One Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 System Might Finally Make Me Care About Punishment

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is full of interesting and immersive systems, but one in particular stands out as being truly game-changing to me.

Another small way the game could change this is to ask what custom outfit the player wants to change into or let the player pick the situations those outfits are for. That way,the game could switch outfits whenever a battle comes upor when Henry leaves a battle to just hang out. This method is a lot easier and would likely take the least amount of effort.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Outfit System Is Still Great

Henry Still Looks Great, Despite KCD2’s Issues

The outfit system inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2isa big improvement compared to the first gameand helped the gamescore high in reviews. Switching between different armor sets was pretty time-consuming and annoying, slowly picking each piece to put on. This kind of thing slowed down the gameplay when Henry needed to be stealthy or interact socially. The new system lets players create three different outfits, making it much easier to change clothes as needed.
