Kohei Horikoshi’s storytelling and character design are phenomenal, but it is only natural for fans to develop their own creative ideas that they would love to see in the official story. 10Deku Becoming a Hero Without a Quirk

Deku was born Quirkless, which made him worry he would never become a hero like All Might. Deku did not have to stress for long though, because All Might passed down his One For All Quirk to Deku early on. However, seeing Deku as a Quirkless hero could have been unique, adding an incredible twist to the story.

What Happens to Deku and His One for All Powers in My Hero Academia’s Finale

My Hero Academia’s final battles took almost everything Deku had to win, but the ending included a surprising twist for him and the One For All Quirk.

If Deku had gotten into U.A., he would have proven that even those without Quirks can still become heroes. Perhaps he could have relied on physical combat abilities, support items, or other clever tactics to become a strong hero in spite of his lack of a superpower. Watching Deku use One For All is indeed satisfying, butseeing the young hero excel without a Quirkcould have been equally as riveting.

9All Might’s Death Sooner in the Story To Give Deku Additional Motivation

All Might Dying During the First All for One Fight Would Have Pushed Deku To Fight Harder To Avenge Him

All Might, society’s Symbol of Peace, was reaching the end of his prime even whenMy Hero Academiabegan. After years of protecting society from evil foes, hisOne For All Quirk was gradually dying out, leaving him weakened. He did not officially die in the story until chapter 406, although there were a few scares where it seemed he might not survive.

Had All Might passed away during one of these pivotal scenes, such as his first fight against All For One,this tragedy would have raised the stakes of the fight against good vs. evil. With All Might gone, Deku would have suffered without his guidance. Conversely, though, losing his mentor also might have offered him extra drive to fight harder to take down the villain who cut All Might’s life short.

8Additional Romantic Relationships Depicted in the Series

There Is Only Canon Relationship, Leaving Quite a Few Romantic Possibilities Unexplored

Compared to some other shonen series,My Hero Academiahas a significant lack of romance. This is not necessarily a bad thing, since the story still works well without portraying these types of relationships and focusing on platonic, familial, and mentorship relationships instead. There are some hints at romance, like Ochaco’s crush on Deku, but only one relationship ever became canon.

The only confirmed romantic relationshipinMy Hero Academiais Gentle Criminal and La Brava’s. Since the U.A. students are in high school, it would have been adorable to see them dating and developing crushes, since these elements are often part of the high school experience. More romantic relationships between Pro Heroes also could have been explored, giving viewers more insight into these characters' lives outside their hero duties.

7Deku’s Father Being Revealed

The True Identity of Deku’s Father Will Forever Remain One of the Series’ Most Compelling Mysteries

One of the greatest mysteries inMy Hero Academiawas, and still is,the true identity of Deku’s father.Hisashi works abroad, explaining why he does not live with Inko and Deku during the story. Kohei Horikoshi, the mangaka, stated that he would show Deku’s father, Hisashi Midoriya, in a future manga chapter, but unfortunately, the character was never introduced.

Now that theMy Hero Academiamanga is over, it seems the appearance and personality of Deku’s father will forever remain an unanswered question. It could have been interesting to witness Deku interacting with his father and Inko and Hisashi’s relationship. Hisashi would have been extremely proud of all Deku accomplished while he was away, andit is a shame viewers never got to meet him.

6More Interaction Between Tomura Shigaraki and Deku

Deku and Tomura Shigaraki Needed More Interactions To Develop the Dynamic Between Their Characters

In a Reddit thread, useru/Visible-Rub7937suggested that includingmore interaction between Tomura Shigaraki and Deku would have improved the arcsof these characters. Deku was desperate to save Shigaraki from his fate as a villain, and the pair did speak a few times, such as when Shigaraki cornered Deku in the mall. However, their interchanges away from the battlefield are few and far between.

“I’m Not Giving Up on That Boy”: My Hero Academia Reveals What Makes Deku A Great Hero

Deku’s controversial decision in the latest chapter of My Hero Academia reveals the one trait that makes Deku the great hero he always aspired to be.

u/Visible-Rub7937 wished to see more discussions between the hero and villain, as well asmore moments of Deku learning about Shigaraki’s difficult origins as a child.Until later seasons,Deku and Shigaraki were mostly strangers who knew of one another but did not really speak. Had these characters had a better understanding of each other sooner, their hero-villain relationship and Deku’s sympathy for Tomura would have been developed further.

5More Onscreen Time for the Pro Heroes

Many Pro Heroes Deserve More Detailed Backstories and Increased Appearances in the Story

There are a multitude of fascinating Pro Heroes inMy Hero Academiawith astounding powers.Notevery Pro Heroreceived adequate screentimethough. Pros like Endeavor and Hawks received a lot of attention, but still more of these heroes were not included often enough.

Heroes like Midnight and Mt Lady deserved more appearances,as well as detailed backstories. By focusing closely on only a few Pro Heroes,My Hero Academiaunfortunately neglects to make use of the array of other talented characters who protect society. There are numerous fights with many of the Pros present, but concerning origin stories and character development, many of the Pro Heroes' character arcs feel incomplete.

4Ochaco and Deku’s Relationship Becoming Officially Canon

Deku and Ochaco Never Got Together in the Story, Despite the Romantic Moments Between Them

u/MATTHEW_LEAFEONmade a suggestion for a potentialMy Hero Academiachange that most fans have been thinking about.Deku and Ochaco’s relationshipnever became canon, although it was strongly hinted at.Both Deku and Ochaco had visible crushes on one another, blushing and flirting heavily in each other’s presence.

Ochaco took inspiration from Deku’s journey, using his example to push her to become a better hero. Deku also admired Ochaco’s positivity, resilience, and commitment to providing for her parents. Sadly though, their romantic moments never amounted to any official relationship.

3The Series Taking Place Over a Longer Timeframe Than One Year

Spreading Out the Events ofMy Hero AcademiaWould Feel More Realistic

Shockingly, the events ofMy Hero Academiatook place over a very short time span. The story’s most crucial events, like battles against All For One and Shigaraki, are all packed into a timeframe of a year or two. Reddit User,u/ShadowSJG, suggested that spacing out the events of the story could be a positive adjustment to the series.

My Hero Academia’s Rush to the Finish Line Ruins its Real Message

The latest arc of My Hero Academia attempted to tackle real world issues like discrimination, but its rushed pace trivialized its message.

Since the entire story encapsulates one to two years of high school, the storyexcludes the U.A. students' final year of high school.By including their pivotal senior year, there would be greater opportunities for character development and the exhilarating events of the last year of high school, like school dances and choosing a career. More spaced out pacing would also make the story feel less rushed and offer more time for slice-of-life moments between battles.

2Toga Himiko Being Redeemed and Surviving

Toga Could Have Turned To Good and Fought Alongside Heroes Like Ochaco

Toga Himiko’s death was one of the most tragicinMy Hero Academia. Her character arc was heartbreaking, as she felt cast out by society and ran to the League of Villains for acceptance. Her uncommon Transform Quirk that uses blood horrified people, leaving her friendless, other than the villains who took her in.

Ochaco developed an unlikely bond with Toga, showing her grace and care despite the evil path she chose.Toga died to save Ochaco’s life, a testament to her love for Ochaco and willingness to change. This scene showed that Toga can be a good person, and had she survived, she would have become one of the best heroes.

1More U.A. Student Arcs at School

Since the Main Characters Are Students, More Casual, Lighthearted School Arcs Would Have Fit Well in the Story

My Hero Academia’sbattles and fight scenes are entertaining and intense. However, more arcs within U.A. High would have added a much-needed lightheartednessto the story. These characters are high school students, so it is a shame that there are not more typical high school moments, like school dances, time spent in the classroom, and casual moments of friends hanging out, for example.

AlthoughMy Hero Academiadoes take place during a war between good and evil, the story could benefit from more slice-of-life scenes. The popularity of arcs likethe U.A. School Festivalproved that the franchise can portray casual occurrences well and that fans love these scenes just as much as the more violent, action-packed ones. Since the main characters are students, it would certainly make sense for more arcs to take place at the school where they spend most of their time.
