Featuring everyone from Finn the Human to Jason Voorhees,MultiVersusmaintains its ridiculous tone by providing players with plenty of content to unlock that pays homage to classic movies and shows. With a roster that already covers sucha massive range of fandoms, it’s time for the game to begin incorporating some more classic characters one might never assume would fit in a platform fighter
Over on X (formerly Twitter), dedicatedMultiVersusleaks accountMVSDonkDonkshared a post stating thatthe DC Universe’s Aquaman and the Wicked Witch fromThe Wizard of Ozare likely coming to the game’s fifth season.
Both characters allegedly received “many updated files” suggesting that developerPlayer First Games is gearing up for an imminent launch. Further information on the fighters is unknown, but one has to imagine that Wicked Witch will tie in with the launch of theWickedmovie in November, even though Universal is distributing the film.
Aquaman And Wicked Witch Are Perfect Additions
While it’s unknown how Aquaman and Wicked Witch will play, their presence inMultiVersusmakes sense. The game already features several members of the Justice League (Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman) so adding to their ranks with theKing of Atlantis is easy to imagine. There are also many cosmetic opportunities with Aquaman;players could unlock skins of the character based on his appearance in theJustice Leagueanimated series, the comic books, or even Jason Momoa’s portrayal of the character in the self-titled live-action movies.
As for Wicked Witch, her inclusion is a solid deep cut into Warner Bros.' history. The character has appeared in several forms in many adaptations ofThe Wizard of Oz, providing Player First Games with enough material to create plenty of content for users to unlock.Whether the community will actually be excited to play as a character that’s largely associated with a movie from 1943remains to be seen, but it’s fun to see some variation the franchises picked forMultiVersus.

I believe that ifMultiVersuswants to make a lasting impression on playersit needs to become even sillier than it already is. Aquaman is a fine pick but one that makes sense; There are already plenty of DC characters in the game so one more doesn’t move the needle. A character like Wicked Witch is just scratching the surface of more obscure, classic figures that could make the platform fighter unique.
