OneAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfan tapped into their love for Disney animated movies and not only made designs based onMoanabut also recreated “How Far I’ll Go” from the first movie. It isn’t an exact recreation, as the villagers inAnimal Crossingcan’t sing, but it’s a delightful time nonetheless. This also showcases the creativity thatAnimal Crossing: New Horizonshelps players tap into.
YouTuber Rona Dingposted a video of their recreation of “How Far I’ll Go” on their New Horizons island. This isn’t their first Disney-Animal Crossing crossover, as they’ve posted several similar videos that recreate songs from Frozen and the live-action version ofAladdinin the post. However, this is the first they’ve done withMoana, and as of this writing, the video has gotten one million views. Rona Ding uses some savvy editing alongside their Moana villager lookalike, which does a good job of capturing the sequence in the movie.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is The Perfect Choice For Moana
The Game Allows For Accurate Recreations Of The Island
Rona Ding already had a wealth of items inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsthat made for an easy setup to recreate “How Far I’ll Go.” These included bamboo sticks, wooden boats and shovels, and island trees that, while not exactly like the animation inMoana, did enough to capture the feel of the scene and Moana’s island home. The items that made the most difference to this recreation were the wallpaper behind their Moana-inspired villager that was more accurate to Moana’s island surroundings. This allowed Rona Ding to recreate some of the running and singing Moana does in the scene. It goes to show that with a little maneuvering ofNew Horizons' in-game camera, players can make their own movie magic.
Now Is Actually The Perfect Time To Get Into Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is now a one-time purchase, microtransaction-free, and filled with special features for new players to enjoy.
While Rona Ding couldn’t recreate Moana’s entire village, they were able to add another villager to help with the scene. Pua, Moana’s Kunekune piglet sidekick, can’t be recreated inNew Horizons, butRona Ding did an admirable job by getting a spotted dog to follow their villager around. It was close enough and still captured the cuteness of Pua, who was strangelyleft out of most of the first movie’s runtimeafter this song.Animal Crossing: New Horizonstruly did the heavy lifting, and Rona Ding was able to rearrange their island just enough so their Moana villager could walk around for the video.
