TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #2- 2024 (Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman, Ben Bishop, Esau Escorza and Isaac Escorza)
Sanctioned by their grandmother, April O’Neil, and her daughter, Casey Marie, to help quell a gang war,Casey tells the team that she wants “full ninja face coverings this time” since she doesn’t want their faces “blasted all over the TV.”Next seen speeding to the fight in their Turtlemobile wearing individualized masks, the following panels give fans a better look at these unique designs. Giving both Odyn and Moja similar ninja-like half masks that cover the lower part of their faces, it’s Uno and Yi’s respective kabuki-esque and tech-inspired masks that effectively capitalize on this idea even further.
Unlike the original team, Uno, Moja, Odyn, and Yi already have unique character designs, withthese battle masks helping to distance themselves from Leo and company visuallywhile also making them look incredibly badass, to boot. And although it’s true the original team’s bandannas and the new team’s facemasks aren’t exactly disguising them in any meaningful way (being teenaged mutated reptiles and all), they still give both crews a signature visual style while in the field, individualizing each turtle’s appearancein ways that successfully reflect their personalities as well, an example being Yi’s tech-like mask matching her intelligent nature.

Uno, Moja, Odyn, and Yi Further Differentiate Themselves With Unique Battle Masks
It’s undeniable color-coded bandannas were a great way to differentiate Leo, Donny, Raph, and Mikey from one another while simultaneously giving them an iconic visual design that still holds strong to this day, with Uno, Moja, Odyn, and Yi taking this idea a step further by donning customized face coverings that pay perfect homage to what came before. TheRonin-verse’sTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtleshave a ways to go before they prove themselves worthy of their predecessors, yet with these new battle masks, impeccable ninja skills, andsuperpowers thrown into the mix, these siblings have a bright future ahead of them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) is a multi-media franchise that began with Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s comics in the 1980s. Throughout the years, their comic books expanded to movies, TV shows, video games, and toys. Most notably, the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ran for nearly a decade and has become a nostalgic staple of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Several other movies have featured the four anthropomorphic turtle brothers (Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael), including the trilogy of live-action films in the ‘90s and the more recent movies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
