In an exclusive interview withScreen Rant, Wallace teases the ongoing relationship with Rebecca and Tommy. Wallace mentioned that “there’s a definite tension off the top” between Tommy and Rebecca, and there is “room for more tension” asLandmancontinues its season. The actor also went on to describe the working relationship between her and Thornton, explaining that the Tommy actor “would throw something at [her] like a little curve ball”, like “add[ing] something to a scene,” which made working together “so much fun.” Check out the full quote from Wallace below:

There’s a definite tension off the top, and it was really fun to find that banter with Tommy and Billy Bob. He would throw something at me like a little curve ball. He would add something to a scene, add a line, or just change something up that he knew would dig into me a little bit more. It was just so much fun to work with him, and it made, I think, their dynamic really fresh. I think there’s, yeah, room for more tension, and I think they’re figuring out what that is.
What This Means For These Characters' Landman Arc
Tommy Is In For A Tough Season Ahead
Wallace is right in saying that Rebecca and Tommy are off to a tense start. In the first episode ofLandman, an oil rig that is related to Tommy’s company faces an explosion. This prompts the interest of law enforcement and attorneys, including Rebecca, who is sent to look into the incident. Rebecca seems to suspect Tommy’s culpability in the oil rig explosion, which has huge implications for Tommy as a character as it puts him in pretty dire straits. Even afterLandmanepisode 2’s ending, Tommy’s future remains very unclear.
Taylor Sheridan’s New Yellowstone Replacement Show Is Now Streaming & It’s Perfectly Timed
Landman is the latest show from TV mega-producer Taylor Sheridan, and its frequent comparisons to Yellowstone mean it’s come at a perfect time.
If Wallace’s statement is any indication, this is far from the most desperate Tommy will get onLandman. With Rebecca’s position of power as a lawyer, the “room for more tension” could also have legal implications for Tommy as a character. That is, Rebecca’s disapproval of Tommy — and whether she falls on the friend or foe side of things — could be a huge influence on Tommy. Even if Rebecca ends up siding with Tommy, Wallace’sLandmanseason 1 tease hints that their relationship will take twists and turns.

Our Take On Rebecca & Tommy In Landman
Their Rapport Will Go A Long Way
Tommy is slated to face copious obstacles inLandman, with Rebecca being just the beginning. Perhaps the most interesting thing to hear within Wallace’s quote, however, is the manner in which Thorton has handled his lead character role. The banter and improvisation will help the rapport between Tommy and Rebecca — and Tommy and other characters, for that matter — maintaining a consistent freshness over the course ofLandman.
