Beetlejuice’s Deetz Family Tree Explained
The Deetz family is back to battle Michael Keaton’s character in Beetlejuice 2, with three generations confirmed: Here’s how they’re all connected.
Screen Rantinterviewed Justin Theroux aboutBeetlejuice Beetlejuice. He explained why he was excited to work with the cast and Burton, and he also shared how Burton became “joyful” on set and his process to protect the creative process as well as his favorite prop in the movie.

Working With Time Burton Is “A Huge Check Off The Bucket List” For Justin Theroux
“Do you want to play basketball with Michael Jordan and LeBron James and Patrick Ewing?”
Screen Rant: What excited you most about just diving into the world ofBeetlejuice?
Justin Theroux: I wanted to play with all the people that we got to play with. I wanted to play with Winona again. I couldn’t believe I was going to get to work with the deep bench of actors that we were going to have. I really wanted to work with Tim Burton, so that’s a huge check off the bucket list. It’s kind of like, “Do you want to play basketball with Michael Jordan and LeBron James and Patrick Ewing?” And you’re like, “Yeah, I want to play basketball with all of ‘em.” So, it was great. Yeah.

Tim Burton “Puts A Real Sort Of Iron Dome Around The Set” To Protect The Creatives
“He’s very aware of whatever is going in that lens is the thing that is the most important.”
Tim Burton has called this film a reinvigorating experience. He actually told us the other day that he was going to give up on filmmaking. He was going to stop making movies. He was sort of over it. Which is whyhe went off to makeWednesday, but got an opportunity to bringBeetlejuiceback. Could you sense that kind of energy on set?
Justin Theroux: Yeah. The first week I could sense it was kind of like he was a little anxious and sort wanting to clear the set all the time. And then at about the first week mark, he then just kind of relaxed and became so joyful. You’d hear him giggling behind the monitors when we were working. And he has so much energy, so he’s jumping up out of his chair and he just never stopped moving.

And I did sense that he was really enjoying himself. He puts a real sort of iron dome around the set so it doesn’t feel like there’s studio people twiddling their thumbs and trying to give notes. It really is sort of all the creatives that are the prop makers, the set makers, the wardrobe, and the actors. He really protects that, and he’s very aware of whatever is going in that lens is the thing that is the most important. So he makes a really sort of safe environment.
And he brought a bunch of toys to this thing.
Justin Theroux: Boy did he.
With the props and effects, did you have a proper practical effect that you guys used?
Justin Theroux: That baby I thought was pretty special. No spoilers, but there was a baby prop, which I was fascinated by. That comes, I guess, falling out of Winona, squirting out of Winona, blowing out of Winona. Which I just thought that baby was incredible. It was an incredible piece of art and engineering
