Warning: SPOILERS ahead for 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5, episode 3!9-1-1: Lone Staractor Jim Parrack has explained Judd’s reaction to Grace’s exit in season 5, teasing new dynamics to his viewpoint in the episodes to follow. Judd (Parrack) has been left to raise his children on his own after Grace (Sierra McClain) left to volunteer for Mercy Ships after the9-1-1: Lone Starseason 4 finale. This writing decision comes after contract negotiations for McClain’s return in the final season fell through. However, Judd is shown to be taking the change in stride, happy his wife is volunteering to save lives.

Speaking withTVLine, however,Parrack teased how Judd’s reaction to Grace’s exit won’t be the same for all of9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5. The actor hinted at the anger his character is going to feel surrounding her decision to leave her family, something that will bubble over in the episodes to come. [I]f we’re not actively looking to root it out, it doesn’t take much for us to develop [resentment] within ourselves. And it seems like it does the most damage with the people that we love. Stay tuned, because Judd might have to face some of that coming up.

What Judd’s Anger Over Grace’s Absence Means For 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5

It Could Impact His Relationship With Wyatt

Since9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5is going to be the final season of the spinoff,Judd’s storyline surrounding Grace’s absence will be an important part of the show moving forward. So far, he’s managed to cope, helping his son, Wyatt (Jackson Pace), by making his home ADA compliant, following his paralysis in the previous season. However, because of how close the two are, it’s possible Parrack’s statement is hinting at a falling out between the two, brought upon by the amount of stress his character is under.

While thecast of9-1-1: Lone Starhas been supportive of Judd since Grace’s departure, the former firefighter still has to tackle the challenges of his new familial situation on his own. With Wyatt now a 9-1-1 dispatcher like his stepmother before him, this might take some weight off his dad’s shoulders. However, when he does reach a boiling point because of the decision his wife made, it’s liable to be something that impacts everyone around him. Since it remains to be seen what he’ll do, the details are unlikely to arrive for some time.
