Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 8, “These Fragile Lives.”
Fromseason 3, episode 7, “These Fragile Lives” debunked the popular theory that Tillie (Deborah Grover) is a secretly nefarious character. Tillie first joinedFrom’s cast of charactersat the beginning of season 2. Along with Randall (A.J. Simmons), Marielle (Kaelen Ohm), and Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons),Tillie was among the many bus passengers who found themselves trapped in the Town. She was a kindly, free-spirited woman who adapted to her new circumstances better than many of her peers did.

It was also revealed that prior to finding herself in the Town, Tillie received a terminal cancer diagnosis. Despite this sympathetic backstory and her compassionate nature, many theories formed aboutTillie being suspicious inFrom.Thesetheories ranged from her secretly being one of the monsters to being a spy for them, especially as Tillie became increasingly connected to the supernatural events surrounding Elgin and Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori). After 17 episodes across two seasons, it now appears that none of these theories are true.
Tillie’s Death Seemingly Debunks The Theory That She’s Actually One Of From’s Monsters
Her Death Kills Countless Theories As Well
Fromseason 3, episode 7takes a devastating turn when Fatima temporarily loses control, picks up a pair of gardening shears, and stabs Tillie in the chest. If Tillie had secretly been a monster or a mole for them during all this time, such a massive twist would likely have been revealed before her death. Instead, even in her final moments, Tillie remains the same kindhearted person that she has always been. The only reason she went into the greenhouse was because she heard Fatima’s anguished cries and wanted to comfort her.
Whose Body Is That In The Root Cellar In From Season 3 Episode 7?
From season 3, episode 7 introduces a compelling new mystery involving Elgin, the skeletal woman in his visions, and a dead body in the root cellar.
Even after being lethally stabbed,Tillie’s final words to Fatimaare"You have to run"as she does not want Fatima to be caught for the murder and to suffer beyond the horrors she is already experiencing. The Town’s monsters and other supernatural forces already have a strong hold over Fatima and the other residents and seemingly know everything about them. Given this extent of power and knowledge, there was never any need for Tillie or anyone else to be a monster-in-disguise or a spy.

From Season 3, Episode 8 Could Still Reveal Another Tillie Twist After Her Death
This Will Be From’s Last Chance For Any Final Tillie Revelations
Tillie bled out and died at the end of “These Fragile Lives,” but the aftermath of her death has yet to be explored. There is a small possibility that this aftermath will reveal that Tillie is not who she appeared or claimed to be all along, and that Fatima’s actions actually exposed a traitor among them. However, this possibility seems highly unlikely, as Tillie’s death is not about her as much as it is about the evilgrowing inside of Fatima, and that she may now be beyond saving.
As seen with the ghosts of Tom (Reid Price) and Father Khatri (Shaun Majumder), dead characters can still reappear inFrom, and Tillie may return in a similar way in the future.

The impact of Tillie secretly being evil would lose much of its potency if it was revealed after she is dead and without her being able to witness the other characters feeling betrayed for having trusted her. As seen withthe ghosts of Tom(Reid Price) and Father Khatri (Shaun Majumder), dead characters can still reappear inFrom, and Tillie may return in a similar way in the future.Barring any major post-death twists in season 3, episode 8, though, Tillie was never a surprise villain, and is just another victim of the Town’s cruelty inFrom.
