Summary
Warning: This article contains spoilers forEvilseason 4.Poor Andy Bouchard;Evilhas already put the father through the ringer throughout the series, and with the finale now officially on track, it’s looking like he’s being put through even more chaos. The first of thelast four episodes of the Paramount+ serieshas begun, and it’s already clear that creators Robert and Michelle King aren’t holding back. Episode 11, “Fear of the Future,” brought a lot of surprises and interesting new directions, butI wasn’t prepared for how they were about to treat Andy.
Andy, played by Patrick Brammall, is Kristen’s (Katja Herbers) husband, and father to the Bouchard crew, Lynn, Lexis, Lila, and Laura. His absence from the household is often felt as much as his presence, andwhen he is present, terrible things seem to keep happening to him. He’s frequently the target of some new disaster, but given his absence, he’s also out of context about what’s been going on every time he returns. Now, as theEvilseries finale episodesstart, he’s in even more strife, and I’m really worried that Andy may not get the ending that he deserves.

What An Evil Spinoff Would Really Need To Be The Perfect Season 5 Replacement
An Evil spin-off show after the series finale could be the perfect way to keep the show’s magic alive, as long as it includes these elements.
Andy Has Already Been Through The Worst, Why Drag Him Further?
Evil Might Be Throwing Andy Under The Bus
Although Andy’s character infrequently returns, he adds an interesting dimension to the Bouchard home. Surrounded by strong, independent women, it would’ve been easy for Andy to shrink into the background and become barely noticeable. However, Brammall’s performance brings a different energy to the family that perfectly fits, andhis chemistry with Kristen makes the home feel lived-in and authentic. The couple feel like they’ve been through a lot together already, and this natural and relaxed dynamic between them, despite the extraordinary challenges they’ve both been put through, grounds the show in a much-needed reality.
The mini-season 5 ofEvilwill premiere on June 01, 2025 and end on June 03, 2025.

Andy is somewhat of an unsung character inEvil. And whenever he returns home from his climbing trips, he’s struck with some massive problems or bizarre attacks. The poor guy has endured a lot, and his rivalry with Kristen’s mother, Sheryl (Christine Lahti), leads him to become a target for Leland, who later confines him in his apartment, conscious but unable to move. Leland later lets Andy go, butthe residual effects of his confinement, and the demons in the house, cause a nervous breakdown. He then checks himself into a mental health facility to get the help he needs.
Andy Deserves Better In Evil’s Final Episodes
He Deserves Better Treatment Than Just Being A Cheating Husband And Absent Father
Now inEvilseason 4, episode 11, Andy seems at the center of even more turmoil and chaos, and it’s clear he just can’t catch a break. He’s been such a great character so far, so it’s frustrating for this mini-season 5 to kick off with him cheating on Kristen and their possible divorce. Although I have faith that the Kings know what they’re doing, given the incredible show they’ve developed so far,I don’t think Andy deserved this treatment.
I suspect [Andy] may be sacrificed in the show’s climax, but I hope he gets his own hero moment in the end too.

While Anna Chlumsky’s character, Ellie, adds a new mystery to the show as a possible time traveler, but maybe just the fellow patient that Andy is cheating on Kristen with, she complicates things with Andy even further. Given everything the man has been through, I’d hoped that he might get a better run in theEvilseries finale episodes. The Kings clearly had other ideas.Brammall has brought such a great character to life in Andy, so to see him going in this direction is disappointing. He deserves more from the final episodes than being the cheating husband and absent father.
What Does This Mean For The Rest Of Evil Season 4?
Leland Is Almost Definitely Behind What’s Happening To Andy
Despite the chaotic start for Andy in the finale, the show may not entirely throw the Bouchard patriarch under the bus. InEvilseason 4, episode 11, we finally see the message Sheryl left for Andy – it’s a flash drive with a video from his mother-in-law outlining what Leland had done to him. Importantly, she says,
“I need to warn you, Andy. Your mind isn’t always your own now. You are highly suggestible.”

So, his cheating on Kristen could be a result of being manipulated by another patient at the facility. However, I think there’s more to it than that. It’s possible that, given the connection to mental health,Leland could’ve been using his credentials as a psychologist to access the facility, and he’s the one manipulating Ellie or Andy, or both.
Leland’s goal has always been to isolate Kristen and pull David (Mike Colter) away from the Catholic Church. Therefore, Leland may be behind this unusual turn for Andy, leveraging their divorce to tempt David into succumbing to his love for Kristen and leaving the Church, as Ellie foretold. Additionally, as Ellie says she’s Kristen’s time-traveling daughter, Laura, she seems to have specific information about future events. This could be information that Leland fed her. However, this doesn’t explainwhy she would want to stop the future “battle that will destroy the world"nor murder thepossible antichrist baby Timothy.
As theEvilseries finale episodes continue,I just hope that Andy isn’t discarded as an easy target. I suspect he may be sacrificed in the show’s climax, but I hope he gets his own hero moment in the end too. It’s the least that the long-suffering man deserves after the intense circumstances that have been thrown his way throughout the entire series.
